Bible Belle’s Esther Review

In this crazy world it is easy to get swooped up into media, fades and earthly desires. I fall short daily and actively try to turn from my sinful ways and look to Christ as my example. If I fall so easily into earthly ideas and temptations I can only imagine how hard that is on my small, sponge-like little children. I try to instill strong Christian values into our everyday life, but even mom needs helps sometimes.

When I saw Bible Belle’s when searching online for wholesome biblical based books for my kids I was instantly interested. “Wouldn’t it be great if girls today were just as excited about biblical women as they are about princesses? Wonderful, real life examples of true beauty, women who can be real heroes for girls today. That would be something. That would be everything.” – Bible Belle’s Website

Bible Belles’ The Adventures of Rooney Cruz is an original children’s series that highlights five superhero women of the Bible: Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth, and Deborah.

My children love to read books, it is part of our daily life. Finding Christian books is not a problem. There are tons out there, but I have never come across a book that shows little girls the women heroes in the bible, and shows them the applications in their life. No matter our ages, we have room for growth. Establishing the Truth and a solid foundation at a young age can help the young girl in your life set herself up for a successful walk with Christ.

The Adventures of Rooney Cruz has had 2 books released so far: Hannah The Belle of Prayer and now, the newest book, Esther The Belle of Patience. In each book the main character, Rooney, is met with daily issues that you would find similarly in your own life. A fairy-like angle comes to Rooney and helps guide her through a biblical based story straight out of the gospel that is relative to the daily issue the character Rooney is struggling with. Putting the story in words that a child can understand, but while sticking with the truth of the gospel, you are given the “Bible Belle’s” story. Highlighting that girls play an important role in the bible and have the ability to do great things for God.

The graphics in the books are amazing! This is because a former Disney artist is the illustrator, which makes the book stand out from any other books. The colors, animation and design pull your child into the story, just like a Disney princess would.

I See Me! Lunch Boxes

With the back to school season here parents everywhere are getting organized and picking up their children’s school supplies. One my my favorite essentials is their lunchboxes. Packing a fun and healthy lunch is such a huge part of a successful day and a better overall education. For the last 2 school seasons we have used I See Me! Lunch Boxes. This is because they are the perfect size, durable, easy to wash, keep the food from being squished and have a fun chalkboard inside for personalized messages. Having a lunch box with your child’s name on it makes school that much more fun. My daughter and son are now able to recognize their own names, so seeing it on their lunch box makes them feel proud knowing that is their box alone.

Kaylee’s Craft Store is a fun and exciting shop found on Etsy. Kaylee, the owner and designer, makes fun and hip bath bombs for everyday use. Ranging in scents and themes, she is sure to have something that will rock your world!

Being a self -proclaimed bath bomb expert, I know what I want in a bath bomb. Kaylee’s Craft Store hit the mark with everyone of their bath bombs I tried. The key elements that make or break a tub time experience are: feel of the water, coloring, strength of scent and fizz factor. Every Kaylee’s Craft Store’s bath bomb had the perfect amount of scent added. Not too powerful but not too weak. I don’t want to smell like a flower factory after my bath, but I do want to enjoy the scent while relaxing. Her’s were perfect. Coloring is very important to me. I hate when a bath bomb dissolves and it’s was too small or lacked in coloring, leaving me with a weakly colored tub. I use a standard size bathtub, nothing crazy big. I think that when the tub is filled and the bomb is fully dissolved you should have a decent coloring to the water. Kaylee’s were right on the money. Finally, watching the bomb dissolve and feeling the little fizz is the main experience you by a bath bomb for. Each bomb was fun to watch, fizzed and bubbled away for the standard dissolving time of 1 to 2 minutes. It was a real treat every time using a Kaylee’s Craft Store product.

This Mamas Experience

Once I received my Slush and Shake Maker I hand washed the inner core, made sure it was completely dry and then placed it upright in my freezer over night (recommended 8-18 hours). This gave me time to go through The Art of Slush recipe book to try and pick a recipe.

The Art of Slush begins with a fun intro starting with the History of Slush and some fun facts including the quickest way to relieve brain freeze ( placing your tongue on the roof of your mouth to warm the palate). The intro will help you choose your sweeteners, dairy, fruit and gives you lots of tips such as adding alcohol for adult drinks. Then it moves to the good stuff, the recipes! With 22 Slushy Recipes, 12 Milkshake Recipes and 8 Smoothie Recipes your going to have a hard time just picking one. So instead I picked one of each.

I decided to start with a smoothie for breakfast, so I chose the Mango Lassi on pages 88-89 in The Art of Slush Recipe Book.

Mango Lassi

Serves 2

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups (9 ounces) Chopped Mango, peeled and pitted ripe mango (approximately 2 mangoes)

1 cup Greek Yogurt

1/3 cup half and half

optional: light agave nectar, to taste (I didn’t feel it was necessary)

Directions: Puree the mango, yogurt and half and half in a blender. Taste and add agave nectar, if needed; blend again. Pour into the Slush and Shake Maker; Stir until think.

The Mango Lassi was a perfect start to my day, I was easily able to cut the recipe in half. Although the inside of the cup looks small don’t let this fool you. The Slush and Shake Maker is a generous portion for one person (but lets be honest as a mom nothing is just for me and I shared my breakfast with my one year old). The inner core is super easy to wash dry and place back in the freezer while I picked out my next recipe.

I love everything coffee so my next recipe to try is the Vietnamese Iced Coffee Slush on pages 46-47.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee Slush

Serves 2

Ingredients:

2 cups filtered water

3/4 cup dark roast coffee

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Directions: Bring the water to a boil in medium-sized saucepan. Add the coffee, stir to incorporate, and let steep 5 minutes. Strain the coffee through a cheesecloth-lined strainer into a clean container. Stain again if you see any coffee grounds in the coffee. Cool, then refrigerate until cold, about a hour. Whisk in the condensed milk. Pour into the Slush and Shake Maker; stir until think.

This is by far my favorite recipe, it has changed my whole outlook on iced coffee. I did cut this recipe in half (which is probably for the better because I could have easily enjoyed the whole recipe by myself). The hardest part of this cold coffee recipe is waiting for it to turn slush.

The third recipe it I chose was the Cookies & Cream Milkshake on pages 52-53

Cookies & Cream Milkshake

Serves 2

Ingredients:

1 cup vanilla ice cream

1/2 cup whole milk

optional: 2 tablespoons cookie butter

1/2 cup chopped Oreo cookies (approximately 5 cookies), divided

garnish: 2 Oreo cookies

Directions: Puree the ice cream, milk, and cookie butter if using. Pour into the Slush and Shake Maker and add one-half of the chopped Oreos to each maker; stir until thick. Garnish with an Oreo.

Once again I did cut this recipe in half. I love that I am able to make a dessert for one and not have a ton left over. My milkshake for one was a perfect cool treat on a hot day. Every recipe I tried was super easy and very tasty. Maybe I will get adventurous and try and make my own recipe next time.

I have never been professionally trained, but I have attended a few classes at a professional cooking school (Western Reserve Cooking School). This Mama’s Experience

Having already potty trained my daughter (who I used disposables with and disposable pull ups) I was really excited and sad to begin the potty training journey with my son. After countless prayers and conversations my husband and I have decided that he will be our last child (unless God chooses otherwise). I love my cloth diapers. Like love them. I am going to miss seeing my son wear those adorable little prints and see that cute fluff butt running around. But I know he needs to grow up and I have to swallow that pill and take the plunge. My son is very interested in potty training due to his age (he is 2.5) and because he has a sister who is older to him but close in age (3). She is the leader in his little world and he wants to be just like her, and that includes using the potty. He has also begun the take-off-the-diaper-to-run-around-naked stage of life. This signals that he is becoming more aware of his body and that he doesn’t like the wetness of his diaper any more.

It is good for a child to feel their wetness while potty training. This makes them uncomfortable. They like the dry feeling, and can you blame them? Diapers wick away the moisture, we don’t necessarily want that in a day time trainer. We want them to learn that going to the bathroom on the toilet keeps me dry. I like to be dry. I should pee on on the toilet. It’s very elementary thinking. My son, being the younger child, is fully aware that his big sister only wears underwear. He is very interested in them too. When I asked him if he wanted to wear underwear he looked at me in a confused but curious face. He is not very verbal so I took that as a yes. I was so excited to see that I was pulling them on him like a real pair of underpants, not laying him down for a cloth diaper. He was able to help set into his underpants too. His sister immediately got excited for him and told him how cool his underpants were. That made that little boy feel over the moon with joy.

These training pants are such high quality that I was instantly in love. My sons face lit up when he felt the pants instead of a diaper. He knew he was wearing underwear right away. He felt excited and it increased his conference. If you have struggled with potty training in the past, using Super Undies a great way to boost moral.

Breastfeeding my children was one of the most precious times in my life. It is hard for me to express just how much of an impact it made on my relationship with my children, relationship with God and my overall parenting choices. Crayola Back To School 2016

With the summer winding down we have to face reality and the fact that it’s officially back to school season. Sign and moan, cheer and grin, each person has their own thoughts and emotions that go along with the back to school season. I love back to school season for a few different reasons, mostly because I know that my kids love learning.

I was talking to my best friend about sending our children back to school the other day. She lives in Texas and her children go to a private school. Just like my little girl, her children are incredibly bright and love all of their lessons at The Fay School. A lot of parents find that private school is ideal for academically gifted children, so once my daughter grows up, I will have to do some research to see whether a private school might be a good fit for her too.

Anyway, when my daughter started preschool last year she was excited but didn’t really know why. This fall she will be attending preschool again and she is fully aware of the awesomeness that comes with school. She is starting a new school with all new students in her class. She is a very social girl, so I don’t have to fret over her too much. But I do want to make sure that she is prepared as well as she can be. Bumbini gave me the opportunity to review a Bummis AIO diaper as well as a Bummis One-size Swim diaper, just two of the many diapers they carry.

Bummis All In One

This is the first time I am trying a All in One diaper and I must say I love how simple Bummis AIO is. This diaper is perfect for babysitters, grandparents and anyone new to cloth diapering since it takes all the guess work out. Bummis AIO ready to go straight from the dryer, or in my case straight from the clothes line. There is no matching inserts to diaper, making diaper laundry even easier for my husband (yes I know how lucky I am to have a husband that isn’t afraid of diaper laundry). The inside of the diaper does have a pocket like sleeve allowing you to either lay the attached insert on top of the pocket putting the stay dry fabric next to babies skin or tuck it into the pocket leaving the organic cotton next to the skin. Right now I just lay the insert inside of the diaper. This saves me the step of stuffing before using and un-stuffing before washing. The option of un- stuffing the attached insert is one of my favorite features since I choose to line dry my diapers, being able to un-stuff the tongue of the diaper speeds up drying time (drying is one of the main reasons why I was always afraid to try a AIO) .

Bummis AIO is a very trim diaper, fitting 8-35 pounds. With four different rise sizing options and nice leg and back elastics you can easily customize the fit to your baby . My only complaint is that there is only 2 rows of rise snaps. I tend to get a bulge in the middle that I feel a third row would prevent this. As my baby grows this will be less of a problem since we wont need to keep the diaper snapped to such a small size.

Can we talk about how cute these patterns are. I was instantly drawn to Vinyl Records since not only does my husband have quit the collection of records, he loves to share his love of music with our daughter.

Bummis One Size Swim Diaper

Even the families that don’t cloth diaper (I know, it’s hard to believe that there are still non cloth diapering families) have a need for a reusable cloth swim diaper. Bummis one-size swim diaper is our go to this summer, and since it fits 10-35 pounds it will be used for the next couple years. With double gusset leg elastics, 4 rise sizing options and 6 waist snaps you will easily get a great fit. I feel a swim diaper that snaps on is 100% necessary because let’s face it once the your baby gets into the water trying to slide a wet diaper off (god forbid it contains poop) is nearly impossible. Bummis one-size swim diaper is specially engineered to hold solids in but allow liquids to pass through. The inside lining is made of super soft polyester making this not only comfortable for baby but extremely easy to clean. Bummis swim diaper is perfect for swim lessons, public pools and back yard fun!
