4 Ways to Make Dinnertime More Exciting

https://unsplash.com/photos/Q_Moi2xjieU

You put all this effort in to make your food look presentable, but no one notices. Most of the time, your family grabs their plate, scarfs their food down, and goes back to whatever they were doing. This can make dinnertime duller than the subsequent dishwater. Although you previously enjoyed cooking and watching people eat, things have changed. So, how can you make dinnertime more exciting for you and the rest of your family?

Eat Together

Once upon a time, you only knew dinnertime as a chance to eat together as a family. However, as your kids have gotten older or you and your partner have discovered new hobbies, this activity is more fractured, and you’re often lucky if you get to eat with one another.

If you’re yearning for the nostalgic wonders of family dinnertime, try encouraging everyone to eat beside one another. This doesn’t have to be every day, but a couple of nights each week, especially at the weekend, can help you reconnect and learn more about each other.

Take It In Turns to Cook

While you were happy to make dinner for everyone back in the day when your kids were too small to hold a spatula, things have changed. You should not hold all the responsibility for cooking, and you can make dinnertime more exciting by encouraging your kids (and/or partner) to take turns cooking meals.

This may be met with some resistance, but it will be for everyone’s benefit. You get a break from cooking and it will teach your kids how to cook, which prepares them for then they finally fly the nest when they get their own place or depart for university.

Try New Recipes

Even if your kids aren’t old enough to cook, at least not by themselves, you can still make dinnertime more exciting by trying new recipes. If you’ve fallen into the same old routine of meat and carbs of varying sources, your kitchen could do with a kick that re-energizes your pots, pans, and stove.

You will never feel like you’re wanting new recipes. Whether you try a Thai curry or perfect sauteed shrimp with garlic butter to impress your family and any guests, you’ll learn new skills and flavor combinations to improve your cooking.

Make It a Game Night

Dinnertime needn’t just be about what you eat. You can combine it with a game night that gets everyone involved in the fun. Board games or video game tournaments, especially Mario Kart and similar games, are a fantastic way to add some spice (and good-natured drama) to those tired evening meals.

Again, you don’t need to do this every night, but making it a weekly or monthly activity gives everyone something to look forward to, and it’s a great reward after standing over a hot stove for an hour preparing something delicious.

Delicious Fun

There are plenty of ways for you and your family to make dinnertime more exciting. Not only can you introduce an \array of new tastes and flavor sensations, but you can also teach essential life skills and even get to know your family a little better.

Old Or New? Which Type Of Home Is Best For You?

Searching for a new place to call home is an exciting proposition, but it can also be stressful. If you’ve decided to sell, or you are looking for your first home, you may be wondering how to find the perfect property. With a huge range of styles available, it’s wise to explore different options before you make a decision. In this guide, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of old and new homes to help you decide which type of home will work best for you.

Buying an old property: The pros and cons

Old properties are often sought-after because they have character and charm. Many older houses have stunning aesthetics and they are made from high-quality, sturdy materials, which were designed to stand the test of time. Old houses offer features and quirky elements that you simply cannot find in newer properties, but they are not for everyone.

The main benefit of purchasing an older home is the aesthetic appeal. Many buyers love the traditional design style and they want to find a house that has character and unique features. Examples include picture rails and solid wood floors, wooden ceiling beams, large, open fireplaces, archways, cornices and exposed brickwork. In an old house, you may also find sash or stained glass windows, quirky-shaped rooms and split-level flooring, which creates a labyrinth-like layout. Some period properties also have high ceilings and oversized bay windows. There are also external features to consider. Some people feel that older homes have much more in the way of curb appeal than newer properties.

Another advantage of buying an older house is purchasing a property that looks different from other houses in the neighborhood. Many modern homes are found in developments where all the houses look similar. In some cases, older homes also sit on larger plots than new builds.

The major downside of old, traditional buildings is maintenance, upkeep and repairs. Even if you buy a house that is in very good condition, you’re likely to spend a lot more on upkeep than you would if you bought a brand new home. If you choose to take on a fixer-upper, the costs could spiral, and you may find that you spend a lot of money on renovating and updating the house without being able to recoup funds when you sell the property.

If you are considering buying an old house that needs significant work, it’s crucial to work out the costs first. You will need to add the purchase price of the house to repairs and maintenance costs, labor fees and the cost of buying materials and updating services. Research extensively before submitting an offer. Focus on major projects first, such as treating damp, tending to roofing issues, replacing flooring and upgrading heating systems and electrics. Get quotes to get an idea of roof replacement cost and prices for essential upgrades and work out the total cost of the renovation. Make sure you can afford to pay for the property and make your vision a reality. Try to avoid overstretching yourself financially. If you’re desperate to proceed, and there is potential to add substantial value, you could stagger renovation work to spread the cost and make the project more affordable.

It is important to remember that running costs are likely to be higher when you buy an older property. The risk of things going wrong is greater and it can be more expensive to repair old homes, especially if they have period features. You can lower costs by adding insulation, replacing damaged or old windows and doors and keeping up to date with routine services and checks and basic DIY maintenance jobs.

Buying a new home: The pros and cons

New homes offer a practical alternative to older properties and they are often easier to find. The most attractive advantage for many prospective buyers is the opportunity to buy a house and move in without worrying about renovations or remodeling. New houses are usually in pristine condition, which makes relocating much quicker and simpler. The process of making an offer and moving is easier when you buy a new property, as you don’t have to factor in repair costs or spend time ringing around to find contractors and get quotes. You only have to budget for the purchase of the property and additional fees, such as legal costs.

Buying a new house is appealing to homeowners who don’t want to do work to a property or delay moving in. As soon as the sale goes through and you get the keys, you can start moving your possessions and putting down roots in your new home.

Another advantage of buying newer properties is functionality. Many modern homes are designed with practicality, as well as aesthetics, in mind. They are geared towards modern lifestyles and they suit the way we live today. Older houses, for example, usually have a larger number of smaller rooms while contemporary houses are more open. For a family, it’s great to be able to spend time together in a spacious, bright open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that provides a base for cooking, eating, socializing, playing, watching TV, relaxing, working and studying. It’s also common to find bathrooms that have both tubs and showers and en suite bathrooms in new houses. In older properties, there may be separate rooms or one family bathroom off the main corridor or landing.

More and more buyers are conscious of their carbon footprint. Climate change is a subject that is dominating the headlines. New houses are more energy-efficient than older homes and they also boast features that will appeal to eco-conscious buyers. Examples include solar panels and heating systems, water butts and electric vehicle charging points. There is also scope to embrace environmentally-friendly ways of renovating or redecorating, including using sustainable materials and eco-friendly paint. As new houses have better insulation than older homes, buying a modern house can save you a lot of money on your energy bills. This is an important consideration for many people, as the cost of living is rising.

The most significant disadvantage of buying a new home for most people is the lack of character and aesthetic charm. New homes tend to fit within a specific mold and they often look very similar to neighboring houses and developments. It is impossible to add history and period features to a brand new house.

If you are comparing a new home to an old house, which isn’t in perfect condition, you might also find that there’s a substantial price difference within the same location. You may get more for your money and open up opportunities to add value by opting for the older property. New homes may also have smaller plots and they are likely to be closer to other houses, especially in towns and suburban areas. If you are thinking about the financial side, and what kind of property is best for investment purposes, there is limited scope to add value to a new house that is in perfect condition.

Which option is best for you?

There are pros and cons of buying new and old homes. In many cases, the decision comes down to personal preferences. Some people love the olde worlde charm of traditional homes while others prefer modern design concepts. Some buyers are more practical than others and they prioritize space, layout and functionality over aesthetics and character. Others want to fall head over heels for a home before they put in an offer. It’s always beneficial to explore different options, even if you think you know exactly what you want. You may be surprised at how you react to a house that you would never have considered or find that you have an emotional connection to a home that you would have ruled out.

When you are searching for a new home, it’s wise to think about what matters most to you and to consider your budget, your lifestyle and the kind of home life you want to create for your family. Aesthetics are important to many people but it’s also essential to make sure that your home works on a practical level and it helps you to feel happy and content. Location is a priority for many. Sometimes, you have to weigh up a property against a location. You don’t want to buy a house and then find that you don’t have any time to enjoy it because you’re miles away from the highway or a train station and you’re spending hours commuting every day, for example. It’s also helpful to compare costs once you’ve set a budget and consider which house offers the best value or opportunities to make money.

There is a hugely diverse range of properties on the market, so how do you go about finding your dream home? Many people find themselves choosing between old and new houses. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options. It’s beneficial to view different types of properties and get a feel for different homes before you decide. Try to be open-minded and think about what is most important to you. Weigh up the pros and cons of each proposition and use your head and your heart.

Anti-Aging Skincare Hacks For Busy Mommies

Mommy life is daunting as you struggle to stay ahead of the endless to-do lists and everyday stresses. Self-care is likely last on your wishlist, and you may realize the implications of missing out on it much later. Going slack with skincare is the worst mistake as it can make you look older than your years. You must follow a regular skincare routine and go the extra mile with it once you cross forty. The good thing is that a little can take you a long way, and you can manage despite your tight schedule. Here are some practical anti-aging skincare hacks for busy mommies. Although The dermatologist recommended omnilux to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, products use optimized doses of red, near-infrared, and blue light to supercharge the body’s own natural cellular healing response to get the results you want.

Master a simple routine

Following a complicated skincare routine twice daily is taxing when you have a jam-packed schedule. You may give up altogether, let alone follow the routine regularly. Commit to a simple skincare routine as it is more doable. A cleanser, SPF, toner, and a night-time moisturizer are enough to stay ahead of aging woes. Remember to add an anti-wrinkle product to your bedtime routine after forty.

Focus on hydration and nourishment

Perhaps, the easiest way to beat the aging blues and reduce visits to your local dermatologist is by watching your diet because what you eat and drink affects your complexion. Ensure drinking enough water daily as it keeps your skin supple and hydrated. But avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugar-laden drinks. Load up on high-antioxidant and nutrient-rich foods as they help your body and skin during the aging years. Steer clear of sugar and unhealthy fats.

Visit a medical spa

American women have access to the most advanced skincare treatments, but they often miss out on the best. Experts recommend seeking an apt anti-aging treatment according to your needs. You can visit a medical spa miami, if you live in this part of the country. Check options like botox and fillers, photofacial, skin lifting, and sculpting. A specialist can assess your skin and suggest the best options to preserve its beauty and glow over the years. Treatment may cost a little, but it is worth paying.

Get more sleep

Sleep is essential for skin care, but busy mommies struggle to get enough. Your skin cells repair and rejuvenate during sleep, so ensure they get a chance to do so. Rework your sleep-wake schedule to get at least eight hours in bed every day. Also, commit to ditching gadgets and embracing clean bedtime rituals such as reading, meditation, and a warm shower.

Ditch the nasty habits

Ditching the nasty habits is perhaps the easiest anti-aging hack, provided you are committed to making your life better. Assess your current lifestyle and list the things you want to give up. Smoking, alcohol, and a sedentary lifestyle should be on top of your purging checklist. Avoid sleeping with your make-up on as it can aggravate the aging woes. Give up on stress and reclaim your inner peace with meditation and deep breathing.

Busy mommies can fight the effects of aging with just a little effort and a few lifestyle changes. Follow these simple and effortless tips as they can easily fit into your busy schedule.

Coping with the Aftermath of a Car Accident

Car accidents can be traumatic, deadly and life changing. Whatever has actually happened when someone has been involved in one, the future impacts can be sudden and significant.

Here are several things to help either yourself or other people cope with the aftermath of a car accident.

Immediate actions

Straight after involvement in a car accident, there are a number of things you, or someone acting on your behalf, should do. First, it is advisable to take photos of the crash, showing where your car and other people’s vehicles were positioned, any tire marks on the road and any substantial amounts of debris. Although the police should do this, well intentioned bystanders may try to help and move things, thus showing the accident in a different light.

Plus, immediately contacting a car accident attorney after an accident is crucial for several reasons. You can check this https://slaterzurz.com/canton-law-office/car-accident-lawyer/ to get timely guidance on what steps to take in the aftermath of the incident, ensuring that crucial evidence is preserved. Car accident lawyers can engage with insurance companies on your behalf, preventing you from being taken advantage of during the claims process. Additionally, an attorney can swiftly initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, helping to establish liability and strengthen your case. Time is of the essence in such situations, and the prompt involvement of a car accident attorney is instrumental in safeguarding your legal rights and maximizing your chances of a favorable outcome.

It is imperative for you and everyone else involved in the accident to be checked out by a medical professional. Although you may feel fit and well, unable to see any damage, it could be that the adrenalin is keeping you going, preventing you from feeling the pain you will eventually feel when it wears off. This is also important if you decide to take legal action against the other party, using someone like Accident.com

If it was a small accident and the other party’s vehicle is drivable, they may wish to leave the scene. In this case, try hard to get their details including name, address, and car registration plate. Their insurer’s details could also prove useful.

Contacting your insurer, explaining what has happened is imperative. They will be able to help to assess the damage and decide whether the car can be repaired or must be replaced. If someone else was at fault, they will contact their insurance company to ensure that they are the ones who cover any costs.

Actions in the coming days

Whether you live alone or with others, you will likely need the support of your loved ones at this time. From being able to face standing in the kitchen to prepare your meals to being able to venture outside and carry out errands, you may need to ensure you are not alone and have someone to figuratively hold your hand, helping you through some of the darkest of days.

It’s also advisable to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor after an accident to address any potential musculoskeletal issues that may have arisen. Their expertise can play a vital role in your recovery, ensuring you regain mobility and comfort after the incident.

It may be tempting to try to avoid discussing what happened to you during the accident and the fears it has left you with. However, keeping your thoughts and feelings to yourself can be damaging to your mental health. If there were others in the vehicle with you, chat to them about how they are doing. They will understand what happened and went through the same things that you do, although in their own way of course.

Once you have recovered, you may find yourself feeling a mixture of emotions, from sad to angry, frustrated to relieved. We always advise that it is best to speak with a car accident attorney as soon as possible. Their role is to support you through the legal process. They will explain to you, step by step, how things work, and they will give you professional advice on how to best navigate through the legal system. The attorney will use the evidence you can provide, such as your medical records and the photographs you took at the scene, to help build a case where they will represent you and support you to receive the compensation you deserve. Although this may take some time, it is advisable to start the ball rolling on this as soon as you can after your accident.

Having your car repaired or replaced is something you need to organize via your insurance company. However, it may be that you need to make several phone calls to chase it up.

When you are the driver of a car that has been involved in an accident, minor or major, it may feel unnerving to even consider getting back behind the wheel. However, putting it off can make this build into an even bigger deal than it really is. Grab a close friend or family member and explain how you are feeling. They may help by driving you to a quiet area, perhaps even a parking lot, and then you can take over. Driving again can remind you that while there are always dangers on the road, you are still pretty safe, and you can remember the different steps needed to get from one place to another.

Long-term actions

Months, even years, after your accident, you may find that something happens and takes you back to that fateful day. Whether you feel it is necessary or not, you may find that speaking to a qualified counsellor will help you to come to terms with your feelings and the negative things you experienced. Processing what has happened may take longer than you hope, and that is absolutely ok. There is no time limit for coping with something as traumatic as a car accident. Unfortunately, some people develop PTSD as a result of a collision. Again, this is something that a medical professional will be able to support you with. Some people can get by with talking therapy, whereas others require medication alongside counselling that offers coping mechanisms. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to this.

If your confidence in driving has taken a real knock, sometimes, just getting back behind the wheel of your car is not quite enough to get you back to your previous levels of competency, awareness and ability. It may be worth enlisting the help of a driving instructor who can go over the basics of driving again with you, taking into account the recent accident you encountered. While this does of course come at a cost, it is worth paying the price to ensure you are feeling happier and more capable driving. After all, driving is imperative for many reasons, such as visiting relatives or going on vacation.

Finally, you may wish to look into the safety of individual cars. If your previous one was completely written off as a result of the accident, thinking about how that could have been prevented may be something playing on your mind. Check out the results of cars you are interested in linked to their performance in safety tests. This can support you to find a car that may offer you more reassurance.

Looking After The Grandkids This Summer? Here’s How To Keep Them Happy

If you have been put in charge of looking after the grandkids this summer then you may be busy planning different outings and activities for them. There are lots of things you can do with the grandkids from swimming to baking. Plan it around what they enjoy and what they have expressed wanting to do. Don’t forget, you don’t have to do something with them each and every time you have them. This can work out to be expensive and sometimes it just isn’t necessary. Take a look below for some more ideas on how to keep them entertained over the summer months.

Pexels CCO License

Cooking

Children love spending time in the kitchen, especially younger ones. If your grandchildren have said they want to help in the kitchen then set them to work. Make sure the tasks you are setting are age and stage appropriate. For instance, don’t ask a four-year-old to cut up vegetables with a sharp knife. Helping out in the kitchen is a great chance to teach the children about kitchen safety and hygiene. Think about child-friendly meals you can cook, pizza for example. You could also get them baking cakes that they can enjoy after dinner.

Garden Fun

If the weather is nice then how about spending some time in the garden. Getting kids out of the house and into the sunshine is incredibly good for them. The sun gives children and adults alike a huge source of vitamin D which is good for the body and mind. Be aware that the sun’s rays are also dangerous. Make sure that children always have sunscreen on when playing outside. If you have a spacious garden then you could have a trampoline or paddling pool for the children to play in. This will keep them entertained for hours and hours.

Online Learning

If you want to carry on the learning during the school holidays then there are plenty of online platforms you can use. Just 20 minutes of learning a day will keep them up to date and current for when they go back to school. This isn’t compulsory of course, and a lot of people are under the impression that children need breaks as well as the teachers. However, there is a great interactive site that kids can use called ABCmouse. This is ideal for children aged between two and eight. You could also make sure they have access to books throughout the day, there is nothing better for a child’s vocabulary than reading.

Educational Visits

Finally, there are plenty of free activities that educational settings put on during the summer months. One such example is museums, they love having children come through the doors to learn all about the different things on display. Some are even interactive, so you and the children can explore with a hands-on approach. If you have local museums or galleries then check out what they have on during the summer. You could also take a trip to the local library, quite often there is a summer reading challenge to partake in.

5 Family Fun Ideas For Summer Fun

Today, many teenagers spend too much time at the computer, which negatively affects their health. That is why in this article we have collected 5 of the best family outdoor activities. They will help you make this summer unforgettable.

Obstacle course

In the country, it is easy to arrange it by going through the contents of the utility shed. Old boards, ropes, pieces of tiles, old tires – everything will fit. At the finish line, you can put an inflatable pool to have fun splashing thereafter passing the route.

In the city, the easiest way is to go to the rope park. Another option is a good playground and a little imagination. In the end, the main thing here is not the surroundings, but they need to jump somewhere, climb and reach out.

Ball games

The ball is a universal thing. With it, it is easy to come up with games for any age. You can play football with kids. With guys a little older – to play edible-inedible. Or hang the ball on a rope and arrange an impromptu boxing match.

If a large company has gathered, feel free to start a pioneer ball. And you can arrange country bowling. Just fill plastic bottles with water and knock them down one by one.

Quest

A great way to shake up bored kids on vacation or have a fun birthday party. Come up with tasks and a route, lay out the clues – you’re done!

The quest is easy to adapt for a company of any age and composition. It may have a plot – for example, a treasure hunt or a criminal investigation. Or you can just complete tasks in order to find nice gifts or treats at the end.

Plus skill

Let this summer your family treasury of craftsmen be replenished with new skills. Surely each member of the family will be able to set a goal according to their strength.

You can, for example, learn to swim or pull yourself up on the crossbar, learn to bike, skate, or roller skate. Or you can work on strength or endurance – run two kilometers or do ten push-ups in a row.

To make the process more fun, make a motivational poster and mark the progress of each participant on it. And in the finale, arrange a holiday and reward everyone with a well-deserved medal.

Classic Games

Children are usually extremely surprised by the fact that their parents were also once small. Try to play a game from your childhood together. You will be able to feel young and carefree again, and your offspring will see their parents in a new role.

Mom, for example, can teach you to jump through a rubber band. And dad – to show class in dodgeball. Laughter, excitement, funny stories from parental childhood – all this will make your family’s leisure unforgettable. And if parents suddenly get tired of playing funny children’s games, they can always switch to something more interesting – for example. play casino at PlayAmo.

Mirrors are an excellent way to make your bathroom feel larger because they create the illusion of space. If you don’t have a lot of natural light in your bathroom, then consider adding mirrors on the walls or ceiling to bounce more light back into the room.

But color matters too. The color palette in your bathroom will impact how spacious it feels. Dark colors will give off a smaller vibe while lighter colors and whites will help create an open and airy feel. Finally, make sure that you choose the right furniture and fixtures to bring the space alive.

Renovations are a great way to add value to your home and make it more attractive to potential buyers. To do this, make sure you know what you want before starting the process and compare prices with other contractors before you go ahead.

5 Easy Mistakes To Make When Renovating A Household

When you finally put your renovation plans in place, it’s easy to feel excited, interested, and carry a great sense of purpose. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as working on the place you live, forming it into a space you can be proud of and enjoy over the years. As the property develops, it will take on your personality and conform to the utilities you require of it.

It’s also true that while renovations can be looked at in romantic terms, they’re also very extensive and sometimes quite expensive projects that need to be planned to the finest detail. This is because unfortunately, one mistake can sometimes carry with it plenty of other little consequences that you may not realize until later.

On top of that, the practical realities of focusing on your renovation means being truly honest about where your limitations lie, and also making certain that your plans are confirmed to be rational and achievable in triplicate before you get started. Let’s consider some of the mistakes you should try and avoid during that process in order to make the results better and more worthwhile:

  • Making The Plans Yourself

Now, we’re certain that you’re a capable planner, someone who cares about achieving a great end result, cares for putting their heart into their home renovation, and doing so in a manner that expect rational reasonable outcomes rather than an ideal which is hard to achieve.

However, architectural design is a highly specialized skill. Some people go to school for years upon years to learn how to do it right. This is especially true when constructing a building from scratch. Hiring an architect to help you manage your plans, to properly lay out your floor plans with the right dimensions, and to follow building code exactly is worthwhile, then. This will provide you with the right foundational approach to move forward with confidence.

This will also help you have the hard decisions about what features to keep and eschew, as architects are truly adept in putting realistic plans forward that construction outfits can use to properly design the property. Remember that utility and form is important, but also essential elements like fire safety and design. Over time, this really does make a major difference.

  • Avoiding Building Codes

Building laws, restrictions and regulations exist for a reason. This isn’t easy to hear when you hope to build on the land you own – surely if it’s on your property, the local authority should have no say in the matter? Unfortunately, that’s not the case, because the housing authority needs to make sure all buildings are to spec, that they don’t violate any buiding restrictions, and that consent is recieved from all parties (including neighbors sometimes) depending on the work you hope to do.

If you live in a rural area, it may seem unfair that the housing authority has certain stipulations for your construction. Surely you’re not offending anyone? But what if the area has been listed as an area of outstanding beauty, limiting new builds as much as possible so that the area remains preserved? Well, your building might violate that. That’s why it’s good to be thoroughly aware of the law you need to follow ahead of time, as it really can make a profound difference to the kind of outcome you seek.

If you violate that, your authority is within its rights to tear the building down and even seen punitive damages for the effort, or perhaps even criminal proceedings for breaking the law. As such, it’s best to go through the right route, because with the best will in the world, a hidden construction will be found sooner or later.

  • Focusing On Electrical Circuitry & Plumbing Alone

It’s essential to make certain that the truly complex measures of your renovation, such as perfecting your electrical circuitry and plumbing, is essential to use the specialists for. You may be a great home designer and even builder, but unless you’re accredited in plumbing and electrical work, don’t try it. The effort can put you in harm’s way and will no doubt damage the property you’ve been working so hard to build.

This is where the use of the best plumber services can be so useful. They’ll be able to help consult you via every step and also give you some wriggle room as to where certain functions will be applied and set up. That in itself can make a major difference over time.

  • Ignoring The Natural Strengths Of The Property

This is more of a recommendation rather than a strict rule to follow, and ultimately you’re free to ignore it. Yet it can be a great idea to consider the natural strengths of the property when you design how the building works and what it does.

For instance, if you’re lucky enough to live in a rural area with a beautiful view, it may be that ensuring that you opt for wide open french doors and large windows so that you can see that entire vista from inside more easily, instead of blocking it off. Perhaps you can also design certain rooms to maximize the use of natural light, even in small bathroom and home office areas. Over time, this really will make a profound difference in how the property presents itself.

When you leverage the natural strengths of your property and location, you increase its value and unique appeal.

  • Biting Off More Than You Can Chew

A renovation doesn’t have to be massive and intensive in order to work well and make sense for your property. It might just be that you refurbish the living room with new carpet and fixing up the fireplace to be functional again, or that you tear out the kitchen and replace it with new cabinets and appliances.

If you wish to be ambitious, that’s great too. But if you really hope to complete projects with care and attention, don’t be afraid to start slowly and build. It will help you learn the very many skills required of any home renovation planner.

With this advice, you’re sure to renovate your household in the best possible manner.

August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month

Did you know that August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month?

As a mother of two, I fully understand many aspects of being a breastfeeding mother. I went in with a positive mind when I had my first child. I was the first to have a baby in my family as well as my friends group. I was going in blind. Little did I know that while breastfeeding is a natural thing, many new moms need guidance and support to be able to allow their milk to come in and successfully feed their baby.

I tried to nurse my daughter for months, but my milk never come in all the way. I supplemented with formula and pumped. Then when she was around 5 months I gave up on pumping and switched to 100% formula feeding. She is a brilliant young girl now who is thriving. I also have a son. Having gone through the struggle of my milk coming in, I did tremendous research when I was pregnant with him. I was adamant that I would breastfeed and I would get more milk this time.

Whether you are a seasoned mom or newly expecting, reading up on breastfeeding is such an important aspect of getting ready for your baby to be born. Let’s get going with some recommendations to hopefully aid you in your breastfeeding journey.

According to Azja Pryor (she is a Babywearing Educator), here are some top tips for breastfeeding with a baby carrier

1. Wear clothing that is breathable, easy, and comfortable to use. The double shirt method
works great for quick access and discretion when out in public.

2. Once baby is in the carrier you’ll start with the waistband. Loosen the waistband a few inches
and this will lower the baby’s position, bringing their mouth to the nipple level. The LILLEBABY Complete Carrier features two-way adjusting shoulder straps. To allow space for baby to move
their head freely, while remaining supported in the carrier, loosen one shoulder strap at a time,
working with the strap that is on the opposite side of the breast baby is feeding from.

3. While baby is nursing you may feel the need to gently place your hand on their head for
support. However, if your carrier has a built in headrest, flip it up and secure one or both sides
to provide extra support for baby’s head. This also provides more privacy for the wearer.

4. Once baby has finished feeding now it’s time to retighten the straps on the carrier and bring
baby back into the proper carrying position. You can do this while baby remains in the carrier.
Let’s start with the waistband. By placing your hand under the baby’s bottom, support their
weight by lifting them higher on your chest and tighten the waistband of the carrier at the same
time. With baby’s placement at the ideal height now you’ll want to retighten the shoulder straps.

5. Before attempting to breastfeed in a carrier it’s important to note that both breastfeeding and
babywearing have a learning curve. I always suggest that mothers master breastfeeding and
babywearing individually, as this will be a big help before transitioning into nursing in your
carrier.
