This Mama’s Experience

When choosing my design I had a few options in my head. I knew that I wanted something that my 4 year old had recently drawn. She loves painting and drawing pictures. Then, out of the blue, my husband showed her how to drawn a basic cat. My daughter started trying and trying and finally got it. She was so excited that she was able to make a cat all on her own. When I saw one of those little kitty faces, I know that was what I wanted to remember forever on my Etched Reflection from Stamp the Moment.

I have been wearing this piece more than I thought I would. I reach for it because of the happiness that it brings me. It lays at a perfect length for most tops, which makes it so easy to wear. My daughter will make a comment every time she see’s me wearing it. Knowing her mom loves her, and her artwork, brings such joy to her face that would make any mothers heart full.

When it came in the mail, it was safely and nicely packaged in a small bag. This allows for easy gift giving. I love that it’s packaged for you to just pass on to someone. I know I would drop it in a small gift bag because I easily loose things LOL! I personally think this is the BEST gift idea for any holiday. With Valentines Day right around the corner, then Mothers and Fathers Day to follow, there is no reason why you shouldn’t place an order soon.

This bite and relax – phase 1 teether is perfect for the very beginning stages of teething. Starting at two months your child can begin to feel relief from the discomforts of teething. The phase 1 teether is designed to reach the front teeth effectively and with ease; raised surfaces are specially structured to sooth the teething pain. The teether includes one clip in order to keep it clean, off the floor, and easily reachable for baby.

Bite and Relax – phase 2 teether is designed to reach the back emerging teeth. This teether is extra lightweight and so easy for baby to hold. The two different materials allow baby to choose from a variety of surfaces. Baby’s fine motor skills will be trained by the shape as they maneuver it around from hand to hand.

The cooler teether is designed to provide teething relief for children four months and older. This particular teether is filled with water to allow a cooling element which relaxes and soothes the gums. The raised edges and innovative shape massage the gums and reach the back teeth. Each aspect of this teether is good for soothing the gums and teeth of the baby. The bright and different colors allow the visual senses to be strengthened. Generic pacifiers can result in long term damage to the teeth with excessive use and can often result in children needed braces, also known as ??????????????, when they get older. This is a great alternative and can help protect developing teeth.

The MAM soft brush is great for cleaning any baby product – teethers, pacifiers, cups, but especially bottles and nipples. This brush is different than others because of the non-scratch bristles; creating a soft, gentle cleaning. The bristles are also flexible which makes it easily reachable to every part of a bottle. The hole near the bottom of the brush is perfect for hanging on a hook to allow for storage and drying. At the bottom of the soft brush is the nipple cleaner. This cleans the inside of the nipple – a very hard to reach area. One downside of the nipple brush (if you use other bottle brands) is that it’s created only for MAM bottles. This obviously makes sense, they made their brush compatible with their bottles. It makes it more difficult to use on a differently shaped nipple.

The massaging brush is great for kiddos three months and older who need to start oral care. Begin habits early with your child as you massage and brush new teeth. The long, bent shape of the brush is perfect for reaching and massaging any place inside baby’s mouth. The top end of the brush is similar to a toothbrush – great for brushing first teeth. At the bottom end of the brush there are two different surfaces, both great for massaging gums. Even apply teething gel to the bottom for a cleaner application. If you are worried about your child’s teething issues, you may want to visit a dental clinic similar to Atlantis Dental in Framingham and start your child’s dental experience in the right direction.

This learn to brush set is specially developed by dentists to help in the learning process of toothbrushing. Learning the correct way to brush your teeth is very important to instill at a young age so that the child grows up knowing the proper technique, if not, they may have oral health issues as they develop resulting in the potential for veneers and/or implants. They may choose this option anyway as they reach adulthood, they might want to know that dentists file down about .5mm of your teeth before placing veneers so they can prepare themselves, however, no mater what they choose they will still need to keep up with oral hygiene, fake teeth or not. Back to the set, it includes one training brush (longer brush), one first brush (shorter brush), and one safety shield. The training brush is very similar to the massaging brush. Long and easily graspable handle allows baby and parent to hold the brush together. Parents can teach baby and guide them through brushing motions. First brush allows babies to independently imitate adult brushing. With the short, ergonomically shaped handle, babies can hold the brush easily with no trouble. The safety shield is perfect for keeping the brush(s) a safe distance from the back of baby’s mouth. You don’t want to put their little throat at danger. Using the red bristles are great for indicating the recommended amount of toothpaste for baby. Keep them safe from that nasty fluoride with these helpful indicators!

The bumpy ball is the perfect toy for any child. It shakes and rattles but also has many other learning and developmental features to it. The whole ball itself is soft and squishy except for two of the bumps on it. These bumps are hard,clear plastic filled with smaller balls that rattle. When you shake the ball they rattle and you can actually see what is making the noise. Each bump on the ball is different – wether it be a different color or a different texture. It’s perfect for developing senses like seeing, hearing, and touching. Children of any age or gender will enjoy this bumpy ball.

 

 

Go go bugs are the perfect on the go car seat toy. These are cute little velcro bugs that attach to the car seat handle for baby to play with. Two rattle and one crunches; so baby will keep busy with these bugs. They are adorable and with the bright, fun colors and high contrast baby will love to look at them. You can move these off and on the car seat very quickly and easily if need be. These go go bugs are perfect for a newborn and will last many months after!

 

 

This light up musical monkey is a great toy too. I don’t love toys that make musical noise, but I have to admit that this monkey is cute. It lights up and plays music when pressing the tummy – great for teaching baby cause and effect. This monkey has high contrast arms (which I love) and multiple textures for baby to feel. The ring attached to the top is perfect; it allows me to take it and use it anywhere. I can attach the monkey to my sons car seat and give him a little more entertainment than his teether.

 

 

The phone of my own is for kids six months and older. It is great for kids who are understanding their parents talking on the cell phone. This allows them to imitate and learn from the parent or sibling. The light gives baby visual stimulation and attracts them to it. The buttons on the phone “talk” to baby allowing for cause and effect awareness. Play with your child using this phone, teach them how to make a phone call, and have a conversation with them ‘over the phone’!

Bible Belles: Abigail, The Belle of Bravery

Instilling Christian values in my children is one of the top focuses in my life. Striving to give them the tools they need for a future in our crazy world is something every parent wants to give their children. Having found Bible Belles book series, I am excited to tell you that this is a great way to really help solidify the basic concepts from some amazing bible heroes.

Little girls are often times very attracted to princesses and the excitement that goes with being a princess. Bible Belles took this concept and ran with it. By taking women from the bible who are awesome heroes, than featuring them as the main biblical person to teach the reader about a biblical characteristic. Giving the reader a fun yet true story and, most importantly, how to apply this truth to a small child’s everyday life.

Every book has been illustrated by a former Disney cartoonist, giving the books images the stunning and exciting quality that draws in a child’s attention. In each book the main character, Rooney, finds herself dealing with a common issue which a child may face. In the story of Abigail, Rooney see’s her brother being mean and unloving towards a neighbor. The situation which Rooney faces is written to parallel that of Abigail’s. My daughter is 4 and loves to read. Seeing it “click” on how she can be like Abigail by being brave gives her the confidence in Gods Words we are seeking. Teaching a young girl or boy the importance of applying learned truths from the bible to their everyday life is a key trait for any growing Christian. Being able to figure out on their own how to make life applications will help them grown not only in their faith, but as a person dependent on Christ.

This toothbrush has become a lifesaver as my daughter is working on getting her first molars and using this as a teether will reach the sensitive gums in the back of her mouth. Babymel Diaper Bag

Launched in 2006 and based out of London, England, Babymel creates high quality diaper bags for moms and dads. These bags feature wipe clean finishes, graphic patterns, bright colors, insulated bottle holders, and a large array of pockets. The creators of Babymel look to give organization to mamas around the globe. Each bag comes with an insulated bottle holder and a padded changing mat. All their products are made with wipe clean materials and are water resistant.

 

 

The Robyn diaper bag by Babymel is the perfect diaper bag for anyone. It comes in two styles – black and navy blue stripes both with faux leather trim. This versatile bag allows four ways of wear: on your back, shoulder, cross body, or handheld. The convertible strap offers easy transition so you can give your hands or back a break.

The straps are awesome; they’re my favorite feature of the bag. I mostly wear it as a backpack – which I  love – but there’s also the option of using it as a shoulder bag and a cross body bag. My husband uses it as a shoulder bag because he doesn’t like having to put the bag on his back. The diaper bag is so easy to transition between the different strap styles, it takes no time at all. Just pull the leather pad/handle and it converts from the backpack to the shoulder/cross body bag – seriously so easy. No hooks, clips, or loops. Just a quick tug! Do the opposite to go back to the backpack style; pull the straps equally and they stop when they’re in place.

 

The Babymel bag has many pockets and compartments; three pockets on the inside and three pockets on the outside. These pockets allow for easy organization and quick ‘grabbing’. On the left side of the bag there is a pocket with a velcro closure.

This pocket is for easy access to baby wipes – such a great feature! There is a pocket on the right side just like the left pocket except without the velcro closure. One large pocket on the front is perfect for storing the changing mat. I love keeping the changing mat and wipes on the outside of the bag so I can access them quickly and easily. It really makes diaper changes go quicker.

On the inside of the bag there is a pocket with a zipper – the pocket that almost every bag has. This is great for things like chapstick, a pen, gum, and tampons. The two additional pockets are located on the backside of the backpack. The pockets are perfect for keeping baby items like a change of clothes, bib, and/or burp cloth.

I use cloth diapers, so when I received the bag I was curious to see if it would be large enough to fit all we needed when going out – especially diapers. Cloth diapers are bulky and they take up a lot of space. Since receiving the bag I have had room to add more to it each time we’ve left the house. It’s a big bag and I can guarantee you’ll be able to fit what you need in it.

There you have it, everything we carry with us on a regular basis. Sometimes we even add more to it depending on where we’re going.. like a lunch pail or a sleep sack.

 

If I could change one thing about the Babymel diaper bag I would create a pocket for “mom’s stuff”. I don’t carry a purse if I have the diaper bag with me, so I need a place to put my wallet. I would totally put it in one of the outside pockets, but they are way to easy to get into. Having my wallet in one of them is just asking for someone to take it. Currently I just put it in the main part of the bag; it just kind of hangs out with all the other baby things. Sometimes I use one of the pockets on the back of the inside of the bag, which is ok. I can make it work without a “me” pocket, but all in all it would be great if there was one.

If you are new to Mei Tais like I was, let me break it down for you. A Mei Tai is a simple two shouldered baby carrier that has a strap that ties around your waist and a panel of fabric to support baby. This is the perfect carrier for all ages, newborn to toddler.  Mei Tais are designed after a traditional Asian baby carrier and are by far the easiest to use!

The ByKay Mei Tai Classic is the first Mei Tai I have tried and I instantly fell in love. Mei Tais are elegant and simple, they give you the beautiful look of wrapping like with a woven, along with the design of a soft structure carrier minus 20161205_131304-editthe buckles. Don’t get me wrong, I love my SSC but hate having resize it for when my husband wears it. That’s the beauty of a Mei Tai, size doesn’t matter, I can get a great fit and so can my husband without having to make a ton of adjustments. Like I said, I adore the look of a woven wrap, but I have never tried one and to be honest I am intimidated by them. I love that I can get the look of a woven without the learning curve needed.

I love nothing more than a cozy front carry and a ByKay Mei Tai can easily be the first carrier you put your newborn in. This carrier will grow with you as your child grows. I loved to front carry my daughter when she was super tiny and still do to this day. When they say a carrier is “sprinkled with sleepy dust” that statement is true for my daughter. I can easilybykay-mei-tai-classic get her to nap, with a cozy front carry, while we are on the go.

Once your baby is able to sit by themselves you can use the back carry position. Learning to get your child from the front to the back can take a little practice, but I feel that learning with a Mei Tai is easier than with any other carrier. Back carrying is great for when your child wants to look around a little more. I often back carry when we go for walks or if my daughter needs extra cuddles while I’m trying to get my housework done.

My new favorite carry is a hip carry. I never thought you could do a 20161205_132358-editcomfortable hip carry in anything other than  a ring sling until I tried a hip carry in my ByKay Mei Tai. Not only do I love the look of this hip carry, it’s super comfortable for myself and my daughter.

The hottest toy in the Fox house for 2016 was Shape Mags – the magnetic bricks perfect for all ages. I have recently seen magnetic tiles for sale in stores and online. It peaked my interest for several reasons. First off they looked super fun! Colorful items and magnetic things are top forms of attraction for all toddlers. They can build fine motor skills, develop critical thinking skills, and sharpen math skills. Then I noticed there are tons of brands and companies making these tiles so I knew I needed to take a step back and see which brand is worth the investment.

I have come to the conclusion that Shape Mags are the top choice for all families for several key reasons.

My husband is a scientist and loves Shape Mags. He see’s how interactive they are and all the benefits which a child can gain while playing with them. When using the GoTo with our table it seems to have worked pretty well. I didn’t put food in front of my baby, I spoon fed him. But I did put his water cup on the table and he was able to grab it and pull it to him. The chair came up to the table and he was at a good height. An aspect of the chair that I really like is the little space between baby’s chest and the edge of the chair. When he would drop his water cup it landed in the pocket space and didn’t fall on the floor. It wasn’t a big deal if it fell on the floor at our home, but if we were in a restaurant I for sure would not want it falling on the ground. It is a very innovative aspect of the high chair. In the picture below you can see the three different sections of the chair. Number 1 is the back – store whatever you need and whatever will fit. Number 2 is where baby sits; and number 3 is the extra “drop zone” space that catches what baby drops.

Although I found it very difficult to lock the chair into place, Phoenix Baby did well in creating a safe product. I have full confidence that the chair and stand will not collapse. The legs pull out pretty easily but getting the locking mechanism to the ‘locked’ position was a challenge. Once I opened and closed the chair a few times I got the hang of how it needed to lock and it was no problem. I do appreciate the difficult-ness of locking the chair because that tells me that it’s safe. If it is that hard to lock then how much harder will it be to collapse – impossible it seems! The buttons on the side that hold up the leg holes are also difficult to snap; but again I feel very confident that they won’t unsnap by chance. The safety features have this mom’s approval!

When baby is younger (or even sleeping in the carrier) you can use the chair as a stand for their car seat. All you need to do is unsnap the leg hole flap, unclip the chair back, and lay them flat. You now have a sturdy, square, table-level car seat holder! This is such a good resource to have when baby is little. My husband and I could have used this multiple times we went to restaurants a few months ago. We could have avoided putting our son on the table or using a chair and watching closely that the car seat didn’t fall off! There is even a clip so you can secure the car seat; ensuring complete and total safety.
