Irresistible ikiki Shoes

Transition is pretty much happening everyday when you have little ones. Weather is changing, milestones are being hit, likes/dislikes are developing, and in my extended family, babies are always being born.

It’s hard to keep up.

So when fall weather hit out of no where, I realized I was in a pinch for new kid shoes. We needed to transition out of easy slip on sandals back to socks and sneakers.

As a mother of two, sneakers are my worst nightmare.

Thats four pairs of socks, four wrestling matches to squeeze feet in shoes, and four races to tie shoes before the feet run away.

My daughter is transitioning into walking so this fall I knew she would need a good pair of solid walking shoes. While my son is transitioning into an opinionated “three-anger” and pretty much controls what he wears and when he wears it.

So with fall rolling in I was scared leaving the house was going to start taking 3 hours.

Then I found ikiki shoes!

Who is ikiki Shoes?

A dad with growing kids came up with ikiki shoes in 2009. He was actually an engineer looking for shoes that were healthy and fun for kids, and not just shrunken adult shoes. He understood kid feet are in the most important developmental stage of life, and therefore needed the correct support and design. ikiki has reimagined kid’s shoes and has used the best materials to make their products breathable, comfortable, and fun.

Squeaky Shoes?

Before you freak out, please promise to read on. ikiki shoes have built in squeakers.

While living in China, I saw kids wearing squeaker shoes daily. At first I didn’t get it. Why would you want to hear that all day?

Then I saw it in action.

New walkers smiling from ear to ear as they heard the squeaking. It actually is a genius educational tool. It teaches kids cause and effect which is big milestone for littles.  The squeak is also providing a multi sensory activity for walkers; feeling feet walk while hearing squeaking in unison. I don’t think I’ve every seen my daughter smile so big than when she first wore her ikiki’s. As I held her hands and she jumped, the squeaking brought giggles and entertainment.

It also provides a safety measure. I remember seeing a mom turn around to talk to her friend and her daughter taking off. Immediately the mother heard the quickening of squeaks and turned around to chase her little one back to safety. These shoes are great for in stores and parks when you are trying to multitask. Rather than looking for groceries and watching kids, you can actually look at what you are buying while listening to your child’s actions.

 Adjustable Squeaker

Like I said, squeaker shoes are no new invention. However, ikiki shoes are built with a patent-pending adjustable squeaker design. With a simple flip of a switch you, or your child, can turn the squeaks off. So when heading to the library or movie theater, or you just need a bit of quiet, ikiki shoes can be silenced.

I liked that it was simple to turn the squeaks on and off. My 2.5 year old son figured it out within minutes of wearing his new shoes. He established his own set of rules of when he wanted the squeaks on and off. When he’s jumping and “working out” he sits down and turns those puppies on and has a wonderful squeaking time. During his imaginative play time or when grandpa’s around he chooses to keep them off. I liked that during this transition of needing control, my son has something he is in control of.

As for my newly walking daughter, we just leave her ikiki’s on because what is cuter than a tottering baby?

A tottering baby laughing at herself squeaking.

Shoe Tech

As I said before, ikiki shoes were engineered around children’s feet.

The soles are very light weight and soft, making them flexible and comfortable. The rubber bottoms protect their little feet while also allowing children to feel the ground; helping to develop balance and stability. Each sole has a different pop of color, making it easier to match the correct foot to the correct shoe.

The website provides a wonderful printable sizing guide. Included is detailed directions, an accuracy check, and scale. It was simple and quick to measure my kids’ feet and the shoes ended up being very true to size.

Kids’ Foot Sizing Chart

The actual materials making up ikiki shoes are breathable and durable. The unique high top design offers padded support for little ankles without hugging too tight. The insides are smooth making slipping on shoes a breeze, while the outsides provides extra protection for toes and heels.

My son is a wild child always looking for adventure. These shoes have held up not just through every day use but also scooter riding, playing sports, and adventuring by our local park’s creek. While reading through some ikiki reviews, I read one consumer’s fear of the shoes being too flimsy for outside. ikiki actually encouraged her to try the shoes for outside play and offered another pair if they got ruined.

The truth is, healthy kid shoes should feel light weight and flexible. ikiki has mastered just that by engineering high quality developmentally appropriate shoes for your kids’ growing feet.

EASY to put on

My favorite feature of ikiki shoes is how easy they are. These are the first shoes my son has ever independently put on!

A serious miracle!

The backs have large easy pull on loops which can actually be used. These are far from the normal wimpy loops that slip right out of your fingers.

The best part is the wide opening velcro which provides plenty of wiggle room to pop feet in. Since velcro can be adjusted, you can still make the roomy shoes tight enough for safe walking.

Appealing Characters

ikiki didn’t just design shoes for the different needs of adolescent feet, they also created unique styles to accentuate the personality of your little ones. ikiki shoes are visually appealing with bright colors and friendly characters. Each pair doubles as a fun character friend that is as unique as your child. Their website includes bios for each character helping your little one choose his or her ikikis.

For the first time I let my son choose his own shoes. It was a much debated processes as we went through and read about each character. He eventually decided on Prince Kairu, a competitive frog working towards being the first amphibious Olympic swimmer. He loved the medal Kairu had won in his bio picture and the fact he could help him jump to victory.

For me it was a struggle to narrow it down but I finally chose Patty Potamus for my daughter, a dancing hippo ballerina that has a taste for finer things. Not to mention, we loved they were glittery and matched her favorite hippo toy.

Thanks to our ikiki shoes leaving the house this fall is going to be quick and simple. We finally have shoes that are made for developing walking feet while also appeasing our independent free spirited child.

Shopping Made Easy

Any mom can testify that shopping with a baby is a difficult and challenging task. If you are thinking of buying a new car as your old one just won’t cut it and live in the UK, you could look into a company like one sure insurance who can assist you in making better choices when it comes to choosing a car and to hopefully save you money. When baby is little and you’re grocery shopping, where do you put them? Do you carry them? Wear them on your back? Keep them in the car seat and put them in the cart? That’s what I used to. Baby number one was in the car seat and inside the cart, where all the groceries go. I can tell you one things for sure – I got really good at placing and stacking groceries so I could fit them all in the cart (without any of them falling on baby!). I love shopping but it can be a pretty stressful task with the baby. I get shopping coupons on websites like PromoCodeWatch.com so I can save a bit of money and they’re great! I prefer shopping online to avoid the stress, but now I’ve found the perfect solution which means I can visit the stores with the baby.

When you’re so used to shopping at the same place, there are customer expectations that you have in mind before entering a store. For example, you expect good customer service from the staff, deals to be offered, plus easy payment systems so you are not juggling money as you are handling shopping and a wriggly baby. That is why I’m glad that some stores are looking to adapt with EFTPOS machine equipment for contactless payments, as well as other technology. These high expectations are not just for the staff through, even the products too! You just want everything to be perfect.

Well mamas, we’ve found the perfect solution to your grocery shopping mayhem – the Binxy Baby shopping cart hammock. This hammock is the real deal. It will make your shopping experience a total game changer; no more playing tetris with your groceries! The baby hammock clips to either side of the shopping cart and hangs elevated leaving the cart basket open for groceries. If it’s cold outside just place the infant carrier right into the hammock and strap it in; that way baby stays warm! The hammock even works for multiples; just put two hammocks side by side.

The leading cause of head injuries for young children is falling from shopping carts. Roughly 24,000 children per year are hospitalized due to these injuries. Placing an infant carrier on the top of a shopping cart is a huge safety hazard. Doing this causes the cart to be top heavy and fall over – while baby is in it! Lisa Pinnell, the founder of Binxy Baby set out to find a solution to these very startling findings. She didn’t want her children to be harmed (obviously) and she wanted her shopping experience with two kids to be more productive and less like a game.

Check out all the features the Binxy Baby hammock offers:

  • Multiple color options that are perfect for any gender
  • Use the hammock from birth until baby can sit up independently
  • Holds up to 50 pounds
  • Velcro strap to properly secure hammock
  • Infant carrier safety strap
  • Secure seat harness
  • Compliant with US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act
  • Rolls up for easy on – the – go shopping trips

For more safety information view the Binxy Baby website.

Follow these easy steps for a safe, quick instillation:

Place the plastic ends on the cart

Strap the velcro straps around the sides of the cart (this ensures a safe, tight instillation)

Place baby (or car seat) into the the hammock; buckle and tighten

The Binxy Baby hammock is seriously the perfect shopping accessory. I love how easy it is to install; just strap it onto the cart. With one hand you can snap it on and strap it around the sides however, I do recommend using two hands just to ensure extra safety and security. The hammock fits on almost any shopping cart too! Our Target has those big plastic shopping carts that are difficult to use some baby products with; but the Binxy Baby hammock fits perfectly. You can use it on any part of the cart too!

The hammock is so great for kiddos to relax in. While baby Penny was in the hammock she was getting fussy, but once we started moving she got quiet right away. It’s almost like an actual hammock for adults!

A really cool feature that the hammock offers is a loop for toys on the security straps. I almost didn’t realize it was there! It’s perfect for securing a teether (or any other toy) to the hammock for baby to keep busy while you shop.

Although the Binxy Baby hammock gives you more room in the cart basket, it is still a little bit of a challenge to get groceries in and out of the cart.

The hammock can be used with babies up to 50 pounds, but it is not safe to put a baby in the hammock who can sit up unassisted.

Seriously mamas, the Binxy Baby hammock is so perfect for mamas of one or multiples. It’s such a lifesaver and really does make shopping with a kiddo(s) much easier. Give it as a baby shower gift or pick one up for yourself!

Mama on the Move with OXO

Ok Mamas sit down to relax with a nice hot cup of coffee while you read this post.

Or maybe not.

Lets be real, it will probably take you a few good hours to read this blog from start to finish. In between sentences you’ll probably feed a baby, or kiss an ouchy, or stop a few hundred dangerous decisions your toddler is trying to make.

I get it. Mamas are always on the move inside and out of the home.

Since week one of my son’s birth I was on the move. Visiting family, going to special events, and eventually returning to our home overseas. I quickly learned adding children to our active lives was a whole new ball park. Always having something similar to holle formula stage 2 helped a bunch.

But not impossible.

About OXO

As a new mom, I learned there are clever people designing and engineering products specifically for mamas on the move! One of my favorite brands for ingenious baby gear is OXO. They create innovative products that cater to everyday living with children.

OXO makes 1,000+ products covering numerous areas of the home. There big philosophy is Universal Design; basically, creating products that almost anyone can use. The company started when Sam Farber promised his wife with arthritis he would create a better peeler for her to use.

Precious, right?

Sam worked through hundreds of models and did extensive research until in 1990 he invented the first OXO Good Grips kitchen tool; the iconic peeler. So we can all thank Sam, a trusty husband, for making “Women’s Work” just a tad bit simpler.

But the good doesn’t stop there, OXO is dedicated to fighting against pediatric cancer. They are a corporate partner with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer by matching proceeds from bake sales.

OXO tot brand was inspired after a baby boom in the office. When their employees faced parent pet peeves firsthand, they decided to start problem solving. OXO tot line covers a number of products such as feeding, seating, and on-the go for your littles one.

My first experience with OXO tot was when I purchased the Travel Drying Rack for our many travels in China. I remember appreciating how well thought-out its compact design was, and how it proved its durability over and over again. It came with us on every trip and was used for bottles, sippy cups, and teethers. I always had mamas asking me about it and where it could be purchased. Needless to say, I had a great start to my OXO experience.

Recently, I tested a number of feeding and on-the-go systems by OXO. I am a mama of two under three, and I can attest that I am always moving. Someone is always hungry, there is always somewhere to be, a mess to be cleaned, and a diaper to be changed. Overall, I appreciated the well thought out engineering of each individual product. It honestly felt like a mom had invented each one after facing some kind of catastrophe with their little. I hope I can give you a helpful and honest review of each individual product.

On-the-Go Gear

On-the-Go Fork and Spoon Set

Pretty self-explanatory, it’s a toddle fork and spoon in a travel case. The stainless-steel tableware is perfectly shaped, sized, and weighted for little hands.

Did I say weighted?

Yes! They are strategically weighted which gives them a much more durable feel. Not to mention, it assists in helping your little one dig into foods with ease. The travel case is durable and keeps the utensils securely in place when being jostled in a diaper bag. They are dishwasher safe and meet the mama standard of no sharp edges. An added bonus is any OXO Tot Fork & Spoon set can fit in the On-the-Go case. Which means you can have more color options than just the green and aqua. But knowing my whole kitchen is decorated in that exact green and aqua, I was pretty pleased with the colors.

Flippy Snack Cup with Travel Lid

I don’t know about you but I NEVER leave my house without snacks. Snacks are my saving grace when it comes to stalling or keeping my kids entertained. Since the time my son was old enough to snack, I had snack cups. The top is made of soft flaps that let little hands in but prevents snacks coming out. The flaps are definitely the highest quality I’ve ever used and don’t seem to lose stiffness over time. The handle conveniently doubles as a hook for hanging onto strollers and the twist on lid doesn’t pop off with impact.

Trust me, we’ve tested it.

My favorite feature of the Flippy Snack Cup, making it preferred over similar products, is the travel lid. No more cheerios at the bottom of the diaper bag or stale snacks at the end of the day. I do wish the lid was hinged on the top and not completely removable because I know sooner or later I’m going to be digging through the diaper back for the impossible to find clear lid. Overall, I would award this my favorite brand of snack cup.

Feeding Gear

Mash Maker Baby Food Mill

The Mash Maker is designed for maximum ease in pureeing food for your little one starting solids. To be honest, I have a few mixed emotions about this product. It started out rough as my mom and I confusingly struggled to get going. I would highly recommend reading the directions thoroughly and maybe even watching one of their instructional videos on amazon before getting started. After watching the video short, we had a real “ohhhhh” moment and realized how much sense it actually made.

Once we did get going I was trying to steam and puree everything in sight. The non-skid base and grip was comfortable and stable while grinding food. It worked really well for soft cooked fruits and veggies. I tried steamed zucchini, sweet potato, and squash and they all worked well. What makes this more innovative than just a blender is its ability to separate excess liquid. I would highly suggest grinding juicier foods on a plate or in the sink. We had a flood of juice out the bottom of our mill during our zucchini mash up, but great news is our puree was an excellent texture.

The blades are stainless steel, however at times it was quite difficult to forcefully push downward while cranking. My experience pureeing a mango did not go as smoothly as I’d had hoped.

My favorite feature overall was the ability to dissemble and clean the Tot Mash Maker. After each vegetable I did a quick rinse and then finally a full handwashing at the end. It came out stain free and looking like new, even after mashing sweet potato and mango. It also did great in the top rack of the dishwasher. Even with some slight difficulties, I enjoyed having a small, manual, easy to clean tool that was just meant for baby food.

Baby Food Freezer tray

With my first little I did all the fun baby food prep using my everyday kitchen tools. We literally sacrificed having ice for months because our ice trays were full of baby mush cubes. I struggled a lot with keeping the trays covered, food free from freezer burn and odors, and popping out individual cubes at meal time. What makes this freezer tray unique is the multipurpose patented cover. It slides which allows releasing one cube at a time easy. The design is made for easy stacking and is of course, its dishwasher safe. When it came to meal times, each cube popped out easily and was nice and fresh.

Roll-Up Bib

Again, this is another product most of us mamas have seen. An easy to clean bib that includes a food-safe pocket for catching those pieces that don’t quite make it into baby’s mouth. However, there are two things that make this universal design more unique. First off its made of a combination of soft fabric, on top, and durable silicone, on bottom. Both materials are BPA, PVC, and phthalate free. My daughter was not bothered by the comfortable Velcro strap around her neck and happily wore her bib through all of meal time.

Cheers to no bib ripping off battle!

Meal time was simple to clean up as my daughter stayed dry and clean under her waterproof, well fitted OXO bib. As for the bib itself, it both wiped clean and washed well without staining. The other unique design of the Roll-Up bib is it being travel friendly. The fabric rolls into the silicone and securely closes. I went straight for the two pack so that I could consistently have one in the diaper bag and one at home. A definite must have for the mama on the go!

Glass Baby Blocks

As my family moves farther and farther away from having plastic in our house, I am always looking for good solid glass containers. These durable BPA-free containers worked great in the freezer, microwave, and oven.

On those very rare days where I am actually prepared, I love having the choice of heating in the oven.

The snap lids proved to be very air tight giving me confidence to throw one in my diaper bag, not to mention keeping food fresh and odorless.

Measurement markings are great for portioning and the stackable tray helps keep my baby food organized and together

That means no more hidden food wasting away in the corner of your fridge.

Feeding Spoon Set with Soft Silicone

This soft silicone spoon worked great during feedings and the stainless steel made it feel extra sturdy. The spoon shape made it easy for wiping excess food off her face and regulating the amount given to her at a time. Since my daughter is in that fun handsy stage, she consistently grabs the spoon before it gets to her mouth. I eventually gave up and started putting food on the spoon and letting her feed herself. The contour handle worked great for her little hands and she was one happy independent baby!

Drinking

Transition Straw Cup with Handles

The minute I opened this cup it was fought over between my 2 year old and 9 month old. Not sure if it was the bright color, cool handles, or fun hinged cap that made it so appealing. I let my 2 year old try it out first and that immediately hooked me. Not sure if you have this problem, but my son is a mega water bottle stealer and hider. He attempts to drink from any cup in sight and then carries them away to a black hole where they seem to be gone forever.

Until I find a giant wet puddle leading me to the loot of water bottles.

However, this cup has proven to be completely spill proof. The straw has a valve that opens as soon as a tot drinks, minimizing messes.

It also includes a hinged cap that is leak-proof, yet easy enough for my toddler to open and close.

When I finally got it out of my son’s hands I really appreciated the ability to disassemble the cup for a good thorough cleaning. I then let my baby take it for a spin during meal time.

She did great with the comfortable grip handles and I was able to see how much she drank with the printed ounces down the front. Another OXO clever design is the almond-shaped straw that conforms to baby’s mouth. Its intention is to ease the transition from bottle or nursing into cup. And if you haven’t heard, straws are the new alternative due to orthodontic and speech issues associated with sippy cups. Also an added bonus is you can purchase replacement straws, because we all know the dishwasher needs a monthly sacrifice or your toddler decides to dig a hole to China using his cup. Overall, I appreciated the universal design of this cup and how it worked from infancy to toddlerhood. I’d even go as far to say it would be an awesome baby shower gift!

So there you have it.

Mamas on the go you are not alone in your daily battle to get out the door with everyone clothed and fed. Just know there are creative folks out there, like OXO, who have your back by working hard to provide you with innovative products that meet your every day needs.

Stress-free Holiday Travel with an Infant

Stress-free Holiday Travel with an Infant

Traveling during the holidays is stressful enough, but when you have an infant, there is an added level of anxiety. A lot of parents like to hire a campervan in Australia in this situation so they have the space for someone else to take care of the infant while on the road but that isn’t for everyone. As any parent will tell you, road trips with children of any age are challenging. But infants require extra attention and a little extra preparation. With some careful planning those long drives to visit family and friends can be relatively easy and without worry. If you’re going to another country with your little one and there will be a lot of air travel and road trips involved.

For air travel you can either go for commercial flights or hire a private charter. The difficulty with flying with a commercial airline is that, along with you, your kid can also feel the stress of waiting in long lines during security. You may also have to pack a lot of food for your kid as the in-flight meals are not satisfying. If you need to take your little ones to the bathroom repeatedly, you can also get an eye from fellow passengers. That is why, many parents prefer hiring private charters from charter companies like Jettly. Flying private means, you can skip the usual stress associated with airports and commercial flights. Plus, many private aircrafts have on-board entertainment features that can improve the mood of your kids and give you a chance to relax.

For road trips, consider checking out something similar to e-mietwagenkreta for your car rental needs. A friend used their services when they went to Crete, so I hear and they were very happy with the service. 1: Travel while they sleep: Infants sleep an average of 17 hours a day, so that gives you plenty of time to drive, while your baby is in a peaceful slumber. Plan your trip around naptimes or hit the road when you know your baby will be ready for a longer sleep. 2: Frequent breaks: Infants nurse or bottle feed every few hours, so during a long road trip, plan for frequent stops. During those brief breaks, you can feed your baby safely, change diapers, and give your little one a break from the car seat. 3: Provide entertainment: There will likely be times during a long drive that your infant is awake. Just like older kids, babies get bored, too. But a little entertainment can keep your little one occupied and fuss-free in the car. Invest in a few stimulating toys like the Giddy Up Gal Rattle and electronic musical Pony friend by Yookidoo. They are full of textures, sliding beads and sound surprises that will promote your baby’s tactile, visual, and auditory development. MSRP: $14.40 Available at: www.Amazon.com zoo 4: Use a portable baby monitor: Keep an eye on your rear-facing infant from the front seat with the zooby Car and Home video baby monitor by infanttech. This portable monitor is a must-have for traveling parents. The wireless monitor includes night vision so even if you’re driving at night, you can watch your little one as they sleep. The zooby comes in a variety of plush styles that babies and toddler will love. MSRP:: $199.00 Available at www.babiesrus.com . There are also better alternatives, but these come with a cost usually. If you don’t have to stick to a budget, consider a Levana Baby Monitor (Reviews here: https://www.babymonitortown.com/levana-baby-monitor-reviews/). zoobaby 5: Bring a security item: A small security item like the Security Blanket by Miracleware can make your little one feel comfortable even on a long car ride or in an unfamiliar place. Its small size, and soft, breathable fabric make it the perfect blanket for rear-facing infants to cuddle while they sleep. MSRP: $12.95 for a two pack. Available at www.Babiesrus.com blanket

This Mama’s Experience

When my kids were infants I never felt like buying them shoes. They are so expensive and they grow out the them so fast. Besides, they can’t even walk! There were times, however, that we took them to a fancy event or holiday party. They had on their adorable dress or suit. Looking perfectly adorable. Then you see their plain old socks. Ugh! Way to ruin an outfit. In comes JazzyToes! You can now use these amazingly comfortable and super adorable socks to dress up an outfit while keeping your child warm and protected. You will get more compliments about these socks as use out of them over any other socks you may use.

boy preschooler set

Now that my kids are toddlers, they do wear shoes as they are literally running all over the place. But, when we are at a party at someones house, we take our shoes off like the polite guests we are. Again, adorable outfit, plain socks. JazzyToes makes their socks in sized 0-12 month up to 2-4 years! With a huge variety of styles, prints and colors you are sure to find several that would fit your style.

Girls set

I was able to try out 2 sets of their socks – the Hampton Variety for Girls Size Preschooler 2-4 year. My daughter is now obsessed with these socks. She was talking about them all day. Her favorites are the “ones with the toes!” There is a pair called Flip Flops – Little Sunshine. They make your foot look like its barefoot with painted toenails with a big flower on the flip flop. My daughter, like many other little girls, think that nail-polish is “so cool”. She was thrilled that her feet could look all fancy with polish by simply wearing some socks. She even wanted to wear them to bed last night. While I do like all 6 of the styles in the Hampton Variety, my favorite style in them are the Mary Jane style. This classic shoe style translates so well into a sock. It’s simple, classic and fits all occasions.

hampton

As for my son, we tried the Variety Original for Boys Preschooler 2-4 year. At age 2, he has not developed a care for his clothing. I am sure he will care very much in the future, but for now he wears what I put on him without any argument. I liked all 6 pairs in this pack, but I did have 2 favorites. The Cowboy Boots and the Boys Sandals. They both cracked me up! I live in the country and have often joked about buying my kids cowboy boots. With the way they grow like weeds, I just never splurged on them. When I saw that I can get my kids to wear cowboy boots but in the form of socks I was tickled pink. Later, we tried on the sandals and I loved how grown up he looked in them. I got an inside glimpse at what he may look like as a little boy in a few years and it warmed my heart.

JazzyToes Boy Preschool Pack

All JazzyToes socks all have non-skid grips on the bottom to help your child keep themselves grounded (see what I did there?). They come in a beautiful display box that makes for a perfect ready-to-mail gift. There are 3 sizes available: 0-12 month, 12-24 and 2-4 year. They also offer slippers and a Bamboo collection.

Click here to browse around their website and see all the fun styles and designs.

Sweet Peanut Clothing Review

Both the American Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada give manufacturers of children’s apparel a choice:  Clothing may be treated with chemical flame retardants or be classified as 100% cotton and snug fitting. – For Sweet Peanut this choice was obvious!

Air ballons Sweet Peanut

Not only is their clothing 100% organic cotton GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified.  It is never chemically treated and never will be. This is so reassuring to a mother like me. I try to reduce my children’s chemical exposure wherever I can. We eat as clean and organic as possible. I use organic bath products. We cloth diaper. All these are such great ways to reduce chemicals, but often people don’t even think about the amount of chemicals that could be in their children’s clothing. When you cloth your child in Sweet Peanut clothing, you can reset assured that they are 100% chemical free.

During their dying process they also use methods that are safe and non hazardous, while still keeping vibrate and bright colors as options in their clothing line. Sweet Peanut cares about your baby, the gift of health and reducing their global footprint. Because of these factors I have added them as a Simple Green Living company!

Air ballon full Sweet Peanut

Sweet Peanut makes the perfect variety of clothing options. Short sleeves, long sleeves, onesies, gowns, suits and pants. All the basics and more! Here are some of the lines they carry:

Each piece is perfectly made. My daughter and son love their Sweet Peanut Clothing. They are comfortable, easy to wear, wash wonderfully and look adorable on children. This company is an all around win.

Mama’s Experience

Stinkin Cute Bunsuit

This is a onesie but made to look like a tee shirt. I love how versatile it is and how it can go with so many different bottoms. Jeans, dress slacks, khakis, or solid colors. I do think they run large. My son is 18 months and can fit in the 6-12 month onesie. My son is crazy tiny and wears 9 month pants, but he typically wears a 12 month top.

I have washed and dried this outfit several times and it still looks new! I am so pleased that no pilling or wear is noticeable after a wash. I washed on warm with like colors and dried on mixed/cotton medium heat in the dryer. No shrinkage either, which is so important in clothing.

This onesie is available here for $35!

This Pretty Friends outfit is everyone a little girl would want to wear. Its pink, light blue and cozy! With tiny messages like ‘listen’, ‘be polite’ & ‘care’, it spreads the message the being pretty on the inside is what really matters. The pants are a light pink and really go with every outfit. They are a smooth soft pink that works with any pastel or dark primary top. With a light ruffle at the bottom of the legs to give it that extra feminine touch.

Goumi Review

Goumi Review

Who is Goumi?

Baby E

Goumi was founded by 2 friends, Lili and Linsey. As new moms they both had trouble finding socks and mittens that would actually stay on their babies. They then decided to “start a company that would be mission-led and product- supported so we could nurture our babies and make more good in the world where our children would grow up”. – Goumi Kids Website

They didn’t just want to make more stuff, they wanted to make good that would make our world a better place

Their goals were to make products that were:

  • Functional
  • Fashionable
  • Sustainable

Why the name Goumi?

“In the beginning we named ourselves after the guava… because guava’s are so good for you. But as we grew, we realized that guava as a name had some limitations and thankfully, we discovered goumi berries  … a little-known berry that is a nutritional powerhouse. We were also “little known” but intended to be a powerhouse, so we became Goumikids.”Goumi Kids Website

Goumi Jamms

goumijamms-info-03-new

My youngest is 18 months now and far too big to fit into a snugly and luxurious pair of Goumi Jamms. Luckily, my best friend just had an adorable baby girl! So she gets to use my Goumi Jamms until Fox baby #3 is one day here (this is not a hint! I am NOT expecting LOL!!).

She is 8 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs.

There are so many fun features to Goumi Jamms. They are beyond cozy. We love babies that are soft and fun to cuddle with. Goumi Jamms are so soft and so sustainable! They are made from bamboo and organic cotton. They used these materials because they have a natural breathing quality to them as well as being naturally antibacterial. Babies are so susceptible to so much more than you and I. They have not built up their immune systems. I know I try to keep my baby on lock down until they have their 2 month shots. But we have to live life and leave out houses. We get cabin fever, have older children, need to get groceries and all these involve leaving the house! The easy snap down bottom makes it so that you can still have your baby in this super outfit and be securely strapped into their car seat. The Jamms easily go from the gown style to the closed feet style. It was one easy smooth motion to change from one style to the next. Because the material is a super silky texture it makes it very easy for baby to wiggle and move around it. She never got upset with having her feet snapped in. She had plenty of room to kick and play around. I have a feeling my bestie will be having her daughter wear these Jamms ALL the time!

Goumi Hat

hat-info-02-new

The Goumi hats are made with the same wonderful combo of bamboo and organic cotton. This gives out babies a soft, cozy and breathable hat. Babies typically don’t have a full head of hair and their skin on their scalp is very much exposed. The top of the head, when exposed to direct sunlight for periods of time, can result in sunburn or irritation. By wearing a light hat, you can avoid a sunburned scalp. This hat has the unique ability to be worn in winter and summer. Its light a breathable, which makes it okay to wear on warm days, but also warm enough to help cover the child’s head in the winter. Please remember when its very hot outside you can run a risk of over heating a child, please be sure avoid your child being exposed to too much heat. Especially when sleeping, which has been linked to SIDS. Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.

This hat was the same silky soft material as the Goumi Jamms. It was a very interesting fit. It was able to fit her perfectly, yet had room for her to grow. This will probably last her throughout this fall and into the winter, if not all the way into spring 2016. The chin strap tie is the same material. It was long enough to be tied in a knot or a bow, whichever your preference, and soft so it will not irritate a tiny babies delicate skin. It is breathable to wear on a warm fall day and warm enough to wear as a winter hat. This hat is so great.

Goumi Boots

Boots 2

Goumi’s Boots have a very convenient design. They have a 2-part closure system. This makes the shoe last so much longer than other boots or shoes would last. Children’s feet grow fast. When my first child was young I learned this the hard way. I think that is true to every first time mom. They can grow out of shoes and socks overnight sometimes. Having the 2-part closure feature this allows your child to get more use out of these boots then you would a boot without this design.

Goumi Boots

The fact that these are super hard to kick off is a huge selling point too. There was never a sock my kids couldn’t kick off. All of them would eventually be kicked off at some point. These have a secure closure allowing for the boot to stay on! No cold feet and missing socks. The closure is velcro. It makes it so that you can secure the boot on your child’s foot. It has give, allowing it room for growth. New parents, like me when my daughter was a newborn, are shocked at how fast your children grow out of socks and shoes. Having the velcro closure gives you so much more time in them before they grow out of them. These boots can be used as socks or shoes and are able to be worn year round.
