What is a paring knife?
Paring knives feature a blade ranging from 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches. They look like a miniature chef knife, but it’s use is very different. A paring knife is best used for cutting and pealing fruits and vegetables. With a paring knife you can slice a single garlic clove or cut delicate vents into dough. The paring knife has the ability to do fine detailed work like removing the flesh from a peach or de-vaining a shrimp. It truly is an all-purpose knife.
What are a paring knives primary uses?
Slicing
Pealing thin skins
Pealing thick skins

How to correctly hold a knife using the Professional Pinch Grip
I have fond memories of my grandmother and paring knives. She would always use them, I mean always. When I told my mother about writing this review she instantly thought of her mother. My grandmother grew up on a farm. She used every part of everything. She would use a paring knife to get small bits of meat off a bone, she would cut an apple so that all parts could be eaten, she really loved her paring knives. Below are a few examples of the many ways to use a paring knife.
For the month of May (2015), the Zwilling Pro 3″ Paring Knife is on promotion. This sleek knife retails for $65.00. You are now able to snag this knife for the heavy discounted price of $39.99! This is a 38% savings ($25.01). You are able to order this knife by clicking here.

Advanced Developmental Cup-Like Rim Cup
Flat, spoutless, rim similar to adult cup eases transition
These cups are amazing. They feature a 100% spill proof design. The cup has a small marker showing you how far to twist the top when securing to ensure a safe seal. I have found that while this concept is great in theory, is only works for a short period of time. When I get a cup with the secure zone feature, it will work for the first few times and will connect in the zone. Then the 3rd or 4th time my lid will continue past the seal zone. If I stop at the zone indicated my cup will leak, but if I continue to twist until tight-by-feel then I know I have a secure lid. I would recommend turning until you feel it is secure and not fully based on the secure zone indicator.
This cup has only 3 parts. The base, the lid and a white plastic split prevention piece.
When you remove the top you will find the white spill prevention piece. You remove it by twisting and pulling it. It will pop right off.
It is not a screw on piece with a track. You only need to twist it because it has a nice, tight seal. When a liquid sits in this small white piece for a while be sure to wash it well. Liquid sitting in it can be hard to see at first glance but it can be stuck on the small hole. I use a tiny bottle nipple brush when cleaning hard to reach places.
My favorite feature of this cup is how it helps my daughter keep the feeling of drinking from a cup but without the spilling factor. She thinks cups are so wonderful and uses them when sitting at the diner table. However, she is not to be trusted with walking around carrying a cup; it will be everywhere. This cup helps her keep that cup mentality, helping to avoid a developmental regression. I want her to keep moving forward and (eventually) make a full transition to cups all the time. This is the perfect cup to help my daughter in the meanwhile.
Advanced Developmental 1-piece Sippy Cup
1-Piece design means no pieces to lose
Cup with hinged lid and built-in silicone spout
Soft spout is gentle on teeth and gums
Hourglass shape prevents tipping and is easy to hold
Helps child continue the transition to an adult cup
This cup is my families favorite sippy we have EVER owned. Having only 2 pieces to clean and to reassemble is a huge selling point. No caregiver likes to scramble around trying to put together a cup when the child is thirsting and cranky. I am able to easily and quickly take apart and put together this 2 piece cup. I honestly love everything about this cup and have even bought more. I stopped a few moms in the feeding section at my local Target and told them about this cup and helped them pick their next cup purchase. The only possible leakage that can occur is my the user not drinking the liquid all the way out of the rubber mouth piece. If they do not take in the full amount they retrieved then the left over in the top can spill out; the potential liquid spillage is very minimal. This is due to the deep well of the mouth/nipple piece. But like I said, buy this cup!!!
Advanced Orthopedic Bottles
Natural shape supports combining breast and bottle feeding
Advanced Orthodontic Nipple fits baby’s mouth like mom’s when breastfeeding
NUK® 1-piece Anti-colic Air System helps prevent colic, spit-up and gas
Easy to clean, dishwasher safe
Glass-like clarity, shatterproof
Available in boy and girl designs
BPA-free
Silicone nipple; Sizes 5oz; 10oz
These are the best bottle, in my opinion, for the mom who wants to breast feed exclusively but has to be away from baby at times. This new design is a wonderful replica of a mother nipple. The Anti-colic Air System is such an important feature. Babies, bottle or breast fed, can possibly swallow air when eating. This being minimized is ideal. We have to burp out babies, that is a given. But if we can lessen the quantity of swallowed air this will make eating a more enjoyable experience for baby and the person feeding baby. Less burping + less spit up = less laundry & happy care giver. It’s a win win!
If you look closely at a real mothers nipple and a bottle’s nipple there is a difference, that is a given. Every mothers nipple is different, just as we as people are different. Without going into the “too-much-information” department this Orthopedic nipple is more spot on to a real mothers nipple than any I have seen in my almost 3 years as a parent of 2 children. As I looked at the bottles nipple in person for the first time my jaw actually dropped opened. I never saw a design like this, like ever. Instead of the opening being at the very peak of the nipple, like every other nipple, this opening is on an angle on the side. Quick breast feeding lesson: A woman’s nipple has many ducts and her milk does not just come out if 1 single opening, but many. The baby’s tongue massages the underneath of the nipple and areola to trigger a let down and allow to milk to be released. Nuk’s Advanced Orthopedic nipple helps the baby keep that oral pattern and allows that sucking and mouth movement which releases milk in a breast to be the way the milk is extracted from the bottle. This allows a baby to easily go from breast, to bottle, then back to breast.

WryBaby is where the world and internet at large received the ever famous Safe Baby Handling Book. It has become an annual best seller and internet meme. Odds are you have seen a picture or two from their super humorous parenting book. Kelly and Dave started up WryBaby back in 2010 and sarcastic parents everywhere couldn’t be more thrilled. This is your go-to site for those funny, unique and knee slapping Snapsuits (their own word for the one-piece baby body suits). They are the perfect gift to any new or expecting parent.

WryBaby now offers a perfect gift set for any expecting or new parent, the Safe Parenting Bundle. The book is written by owners Kelly and Dave. While they did not actually DO all those don’ts, they were just afraid they might! You need a healthy dose of humor to make it through most days (okay, everyday). Seeing your little one sporting a Snapsuit with the words “CRYING GETS YOU THINGS” can at least make the uncontrollable tears seem a tad more manageable. We always need to remember in those moments, “this too shall pass”.

For your toddlers who have grown out of WryBaby clothing, they still has something for you. Their backpack collection. They have 4 different backpacks: Pirate Captain, Owl, Robot, and Elephant. These backpacks are based off of their Stuf™ brand of illustrated canvas characters. They measure 12″ x 9″ x 5″ which is perfect for any toddler.
For those moments when your babies little hands need to grab, they grab your hair, your glasses, your nose, wait! Don’t break my glasses! I need those back. No they don’t taste good, gross… let go…like a little death grip…okay now I can see again…where was I…oh yes! When you need to distract your little stinker hand them one of WryBaby’s Stuf™ Friends. They have a huge selection of funny and fun little canvas handheld friends who are perfect for tiny hands. They even have a bell inside to engage them not only by texture but sound as well. Now little one, aren’t these more fun then my glasses?
WryBaby Snapsuits are not only witty but they are super cozy. As a parent we love when own kids are soft and cuddly. These SnapSuits will make us smile with joy and make your baby smile with comfort. They are 100% cotton, which is the fabric of our lives people. WryBaby is super kind to remind us to “Remove baby before washing”, good reminder, good reminder.
My kids both attend classes at a local Gymboree. We were in music class that day my son was wearing the Instruction SnapSuit. There were 2 dad’s in class that day and both loved it! It was fun with just the right amount of snark.
My son’s middle name is Superman…well kinda. It’s the letter “S”, which as any true geek knows, stands for Hope in Krypton. The “I’m Super” SnapSuit was made for a super-kid like my son. This SnapSuit is available in 0-6, 6-12 and 12-18 months. My son is super petite but tall, so the 12-18 fits him perfectly. He loves the cape! He keeps turning around to see it. WryBaby went the extra mile and has the cape not only attach at the top/shoulder area but also is fitted to the center of the babies back so it wont ride up and get tangled while playing. “Our silky-soft capes are pleated and sewn into the shoulder seams and tacked to the bodysuit in three places so it won’t ride up during intense battles.” – WryBaby
Canvas Backpack
My 2 year old thinks backpacks are the jam. She wants to be like a big kid and wear them all the time. I use toddler sized backpacks as a diaper bag, so we always have one with us. She loves to wear the toddler sized backpacks whenever she has the chance. Only problem with theses bags are that they are made for larger kids, ages 4-5. My daughter, being only 2.5 years old and very slender, has a balance issue with those backpacks. Whelp, problem solved peeps! WryBaby’s Canvas Backpacks are not only large enough to hold my diapers, wipes, sippies, snacks and wallet, but it’s also small enough for my 2 year old to wear while marching to the beat of her own drum. The inside has a handy name label. If you leave it behind somewhere the finder is able to quickly see who’s bag it is, but by being on the inside you are keeping your child’s identity safe from passersby. The shoulder straps are slim and close together, which allows a smaller child to comfortably wear the backpack without toppling over. When my husband saw our daughter wearing it he immediately noticed how perfectly it fit her. Next time I need a backback we will be ordering it from WryBaby.
Canvas Stuf™ Friends
These super modern stuffed toys are perfect for babies from newborn to toddler-hood. The soft canvas and stuffing make them fun to cuddle and squish. They have a small bell inside to engage the child audibly. The bell is soft enough so that the adults hearing it don’t want to kick it across the room but loud enough to allow that the baby shaking it enthusiastically gets that fun noise feeling still. The best part though is it being canvas, because they are super easy to keep clean! I hate when my child dribbles milk all over their cloth toy. Then I make the decision on whether to try and wash it or just toss it (will they notice it’s missing….?). No tossing in the trash thoughts with these. If a small amount of drool/milk/liquid gets on the canvas it is no problem, because it’s CANVAS! Just wipe it with a damp rag. Easy-peasy lemon squeezey.
Now that you have seen all these cool items WryBaby has to offer, head over to their website and order a few SnapSuits for yourself and your friends. Don’t forget to grab a Stuf™ Friend too!

Take-out is a vice of most people; the convenience of delicious food delivered, ready made, to your door it just too difficult to resist sometimes. At least now you can get cheap delivery meals that are healthy, for those lazy days when you don’t want to fall off the wagon. Also in the world of food delivery, subscription boxes are so hot right now. Services like food delivery have become this massive industry for people to love and use, utilizing things such as courier software to help customers and food services alike to keep track of what they need to has been a staple in getting businesses like this up and running. There are boxes for every person and every lifestyle. One thing all people have in common no matter their gender, lifestyle, age or economical status, we all love to snack! Food is the common ground we bond over as people. Snacking and grazing thoughout the day is not only common but encouraged. It’s a known fact that eating small meals throughout the day, and healthy snack like nuts and fruit, can help you maintain your weight or lose weight.
In fact, well-planned weight-loss diets, such as the Mayo Clinic Diet, allow for healthy snacks to help manage hunger and reduce bingeing at mealtime. The key is to eat healthy snacks that satisfy your hunger and keep the calorie count low. – The Mayo Clinic
A perfect way to get snacking and to keep it healthy is to sign up for a subscription to Graze. Graze is available to the US and UK. Graze can arrive weekly or once every 2 weeks. You will receive 4 snacks in a box, or 8 in a box, depending on the plan you choose. For those who want to share a box but still want a fair serving there is the Sharing Box. There are a few special box plans available: SugarCount where each snack contains less then 5 grams of sugar each, the Sweet Treats box which satrifies those with a sweet tooth, the Savory Box for the savory fans, and the CalorieCount where each individual snack pack is less than 150 calories each.
I received 3 boxes to test Graze’s subscription service. I can say without a doubt that I would recommend this service to everyone I know. Every feature about this service is to be commended. Firstly, you receive your box in your mailbox, so you don’t have to worry about missing the delivery person and not signing for it. Secondly, it comes in an amazing recyclable package.
We’re really proud of our graze box. The cardboard is really strong, so it’s great at looking after your snacks and we use as little material as possible (compare it to a normal cardboard box and you’ll see what we mean). Our thin cardboard comes from sustainable forests and is 100% recyclable.
Please recycle with your other paper and cardboard. –Graze.com
Graze also makes sure it only uses the highest quality ingredients. If you are looking for real food, you can trust in Graze.
We are always on the hunt for the tastiest ingredients – from the Keitt mango we have picked for its vibrant colour and sweet juicy flesh to our Chilean jumbo flame raisins (we tried 29 varieties of raisin before the jumbo flame got the nod).
The hunt for juicier, crunchier, tastier and fresher ingredients is never ending. – Graze.com
At Graze they are constantly adding new foods and snacks into the mix. So if you instantly fall in love, have no fear that you will start to get the same old box (even thought they are all so amazing that you want seconds). They have over a 100 options. You help them pick your snacks by guiding them based on what you like and dislike. I loved every snack I received. My favorite was the “lemon drizzle flapjack” (see picture to the right). It was sweet, soft, filling, and everything you hope for in that 2pm snack.
Some of there newest snack options are:
Each box comes with coupons you can use for yourself and to pass on to your family, friends, colleges or even your boss (you brown noser you). More importantly it includes a full nutritional sheet along with all ingredients. My favorite part is the expiration date! They even included that for us. Super thoughtful and just thinking ahead of the game.
On the packaging there are small symbols giving you additional information about your snack. Some examples are: “Only 80 Calolories”, “P” (good source of protein), ‘star symbol’ which signifies its a nutritionist’s pick. All symbols are can be decoded by visiting the website Graze.com and browsing their snacks. By hoovering your mouse over the symbols a drop down box will occur, showing you in greater detail what the symbol imply.
I have been doing in-depth bible studies for around 5 years now. When I say in-depth I am not exaggerating. I spend hours praying, reading and researching to try and get a better grasp of what I am studying. I am by NO MEANS a professional or anything special when it comes to bible studies. I just have gained confidence, techniques and resources over the years. I will list a few resources and links below to help you dive in deeper when you are studying the Word.
This is by far the best book out there when it comes to helping you learn how to study the bible. It teaches you how to teach yourself. How to study, interpret and apply the bible. You will not regret reading this book. Available through Amazon for purchase. Click here for link.
This is an AMAZING resource! Not only does it have tons of versions of the bible, but it has the Strong’s Concordance (all the Greek and Hebrew – how the bible was originally written). If you are unfamiliar with Greek and Hebrew (I have never studied them either) this is a super tool. You can click on the word as you see it in scripture and it will take you to the concordance so you can see how it was intended to be written in the original. Our American English words now-a-days are not necessarily the same as they were when the bible was written. This tool helps you understand the meaning so much more then just reading the scriptures in the words you and I know today.
Now you will see the entire verse broken down and laid out. The English version you are viewing it in (I love NASB the best) on the left and the original Greek on the right according to Strong’s Concordance.
See the words “springing up”. There is a blue hyperlink “G242”, the Greek word written in Greek and the English translation hallomai. Click on the blue hyperlink G4095.
In the box labeled “Outline of Biblical Usage” you will see the difference definitions of that word according to the original text. For this example there are 2 possible definitions: 1) to leap or 2) to spring up, gush up: of water
To find out which or these definitions is the one for the verse you are reading you must look at the box labeled “Thayer’s Greek Lexicon”. Click on the blue hyperlink under the box labeled “Click Here for the Rest of the Entry”.
Now this might be overwhelming and look like a ton of gibberish. Using your elementary school days think back to the use of Roman Numerals. Read through the this section looking for “Jn. iv. 14” Which is John 4:14 in Roman numerals. Here is it listed after the definition “to spring up, gush up: of water”, which means that is the original definition the author (more importantly God) wanted used in His written Word.
Occasionally you will not find your verse listed in the Strong’s break down of biblical usage. I find this frustrating and read through it several times. I am not sure why its not listed but in those cases I make my own best educated guess as to which definition the Holy Spirit would want me to use.
BlueletterBible also has other great features like:
Commentaries
Devotionals
Side by side verse comparison
Audio options such as listening to a study or listen to the bible being read to you
This is my favorite place to get cross references. Using a cool color/shading system you can see references which our peers think are most spot on and beneficial. You can vote yes or no on whether you think that scriptures is a key reference to the one you are comparing.
Once at the main page scroll down a tad and you will see CROSS REFERENCES under the section “LABS”. Once you click on it it will bring you to this page. Here you can search any verse in the bible. For consistency reasons, let’s search John 4:14 again. Once you are viewing the page you can see that each cross reference box is a shade of pink. From deep pink that is verse searched is shaded, all the way to a light pink/almost white color. Readers like you and me are able to vote whether you feel this is a true and helpful cross reference. There is no signing in, just a little click to help the administrators manage this free and very helpful site.
