How Green is Thirsties Baby?

Thirsties All-In-One Hook and Loop

I reviewed Thirsties AIO Hook and Loop style cloth diaper.

I own a few brands of AIO cloth diapers. AIO’s are always my go to nap diaper. They are typically absorbent enough for naps but not quite absorbent enough for overnights. My son is 18 months and he pees a normal amount while sleeping. He naps are 1-3 hours long one time per day. At night he sleeps 10-11 hours. I always try all the diapers I receive at least 1 time overnight. I call it the “overnight test” (very catchy name huh?).

This Thirsties Baby AIO diaper….PASSED! With flying colors! I am SO excited that I have an AIO diaper I can use overnights! This will make overnights at his grandparents house so much easier. They are not into the whole “cloth thing” as they call it. Which is fine, I know that cloth is not for everyone. Having an AIO option to offer them may make the overnight diaper experience with them a tad easier and maybe they will use cloth more when they watch him.

My favorite feature: The insert goes from top to butt!

You read that right. Every other AIO I have seen has the insert start at the butt/back side and fall forward towards the front/belly side. The insert moves around and gets curled up in there a lot of the time. With Thirsties design this doesn’t happen! It lays where you want it to; in the middle and flat. I think this is a mind blowing and such a great feature. I seriously have no clue why anyone would make the inserts go the other way now. You need to grab one of these diapers and try it out for yourself.

This Thirsties AIO has the best hook and loop laundry set up I have seen. They are strong. So strong my son has a super hard time undoing them. When he is just in a diaper and tee-shirt (hot summers ya know) he tries to take off his diaper sometimes. The velcro is very secure and it is almost (but not totally) impossible for him to remove this diaper.

She found out that all the trash, including disposable diapers, were simply burnt due to lack of space. This really bothers Fifi (and myself), so she decided to do something about it.

Simba & Mama was created to help not only babies like my own, but also the people of Bali. Cloth diapers are not very prevalent in Bali. Mama Fifi has chosen that for every Simba & Mama diaper that is purchased she will donate 1 diaper to a family in Bali. This will not only help cut down on the air pollution in Bali as well as the earth’s atmosphere, but it will help educate the mothers of Bali that there is another choice other than disposables.

Mama’s Experience

When I first opened this diaper I was so excited to see how it was packaged. It was neatly folded up and inside the wet bag is comes with. Not only do you get 2 awesome microfiber inserts, but you get a bonus fleece reusable liner. These are so great for any child. No one likes to feel wet after they go potty. These fleece liners are like little cloth super absorbers. They pull the urine away from your babies skin quickly so they can then move back into the microfiber insert. This gives you baby a stay dry feeling. I use fleece liners during naps and for bedtime. Now that my son is 18 months I don’t want to have to change his diaper in the middle of the night, but I don’t want him to be uncomfortable either. These fleece liners help him stay dry and help to avoid diaper rash!

I love this diaper in so many ways, but I am so excited that I have found another overnight diaper! Not all of my cloth diapers are overnight options. My son has skinny legs and we need to have a special insert combo inside a diaper as well as tight leg gussets to pass the overnight test. The Little Lion Cub Diaper passes this test! I am so excited about this!

I have tried a few different all-in-one diapers. What really makes this one special is the inside, because it is truly an all-in-one. The inside of this diaper has a super long insert that is permanently attached. It folds down 2 times to create a double liner like environment.

This diaper is not only super absorbent (he is able to wear it at nap time without leakage) but it’s super cute! Foxes…really…be still my heart.

This diaper washes very well. I prefer to drip dry my diapers. I let it air dry until completely dry. Then I place them into the dryer for 5 to 8 minutes to soften them. When you drip dry/line dry a diaper they will be hard. In order to get that fluffy/soft feeling back I place them on delicate for a few minutes in the dryer. This helps a ton. Be sure to NEVER pull on the elastic once removed from the dryer. Doing that will stretch the elastic and cause the leg holes to not be as tight. This would ruin a diaper for us. The tight legs are a huge part of leakage for my son in some diapers. I love this diaper for its great leg holes.

All items are shipped via USPS First Class (2-5 day delivery time) with confirmation (within US only). Delivery confirmation is not available with international orders. Zookaboo has a unique twist on the cloth diaper market. They make and sell matching tee and diaper cover sets. When we have our child in a cloth diaper we love to show it off! Having a matching tee makes showing off that fluff butt even more fun. It’s a perfect excuse for just putting a diaper and a tee on your baby.

The cover stays on so well. My son has very skinny legs and most other diaper covers will not properly stay on. The leg gussets are never tight enough to hold their position. This is not a problem with Zookaboo! I am so please that I was able to have a prefold on him and the cover stay on. He even soaked the prefold and it didn’t leak out. I am so over the moon about this. There are 2 snaps on both the left and right side. Having the double snap I think really helps hold things in place with petite children.

The tee shirts do run a little bit small. So when you are placing an order keep that in mind. My son is wearing a 2T in this picture. He normally wears a 12 or 12-18 mo tee.

Care: Machine wash cold or warm in cloth diaper safe detergent; line dry is recommended to extend the life of the cover. (Recommend drying once in dryer to seal any holes made in the cover during sewing.)
