Get Smart with Baby PhD

Just a few weeks ago my husband, me, and our son took a trip to see my family. The county fair was going on and I just love it. Spending time with my parents and siblings is always so great, but the fair weekend made it even better. Why? The food of course!

We spent most of our time out at the fair eating, people watching, and checking out the animals. My parents live out in the country so going to their house is always quite the change from our faster paced suburban living life. The fair is smack-dab right in the middle of farm country. What I’m getting at is that it’s super dirty.

I was going back and looking at photos I took while we were visiting and I came across the one on the left. One of my first thoughts was – man that table must have been really gross and dirty. That is probably why my husband is feeding my son french fries out of a bucket! Tons and tons of people ate off the table before we sat down and – germs galore!

Normally when we go out to a restaurant I clean the table pretty well with sanitizing wipes, but I didn’t even think about doing that in this situation (not smart, mama). I was hungry and ready to take a break! So we sat down and ate our food, dirty table and all.

If only there was a solution to this messy, dirty table problem!

Well mama’s, there is!

Check out Baby PhD. This company creates disposable, peel and stick table top placemats for kids that truly are a game changer at restaurants (or fairs!). These mats are not only perfect for keeping the germs away from baby but even entertain AND educate them as their sitting!

Bet ya didn’t see that comin’.

Measuring in at 12 inches by 18 inches the mats cover a good amount of space on the table. This ensures that all the food will stay ON the mat and OFF the table – just what we want! I love that I can keep the space baby is eating off of clean and safe with these Baby PhD mats. The placemats are BPA and Phthalate free too, so baby will be completely safe eating off of them.

With three educational designs of colors, numbers, and letters, you can help your child learn [and keep busy] as you’re sitting at the table. I thought that these mats may be too advanced for my 16 month old son, but I was wrong! He loves to look at all the colors and point at all the “things”.

These mats really are great. They are super easy to use – even your husband can figure it out 😉 Just open the mat, peel off the small strips covering the stickiness, and place the mat on the table. I recommend pressing down around all four sides to be sure the mat is completely stuck. With the four sided sticky strips the mat stays in place until you’re ready to peel it off the table.

One of my favorite features of the mats is that they fold up so small – they hardly take up an space in the diaper bag. They come individually folded in the package, so you just need to pull a few and place them in the diaper bag. Then you’re all set and ready to pull them out one at a time. They hardly weigh anything too, so no need to worry about adding extra weight to the diaper bag!

Not only can you use the mats at a restaurant, but you can use them whenever you’re out and about. From the fair to a restaurant or from the comfort of your home, keep these mats easily accessible to create a clean-up free meal. They’re great to keep at grandma and grandpas house too!

Chimparoo Carrier Giveaway

Woven wrap soft structured carrier conversions are highly sought after. They’re beautiful, supportive but soft and stand out from their cotton print and canvas opponents. However, they can be very expensive because you must purchase the wrap and the conversion. Until now. Recently, Chimparoo added a new designer collection with woven wraps, Mei Tais, ringslings and TREK carriers made from gorgeous woven fabric: The Chimparoo Designer Collection. Now, the popular TREK carrier comes in both a standard woven conversion and in the new TREK Air-O that features a breathable panel. This helps keep baby cool while providing support. Enter to win your choice of TREK Air-O from Chimparoo below!

The Chimparoo TREK Air-O is made with the same beautiful jacquard woven fabric as the woven wraps and features a breathable panel. You can read Mama Banana’s Adventures Designer TREK review for details about the collection. However, unlike a wrap, it goes on and buckles quickly for shopping, traveling, hiking or even at home. The carriers are both beautiful and functional. You can see the product features and purchase on the Chimparoo website.

Getting Kids Ready for Bed with Brian the Pekingese

Go to sleep! Please?!

This is often how I feel at 7:30 pm each night. I love my kids, but the bedtime battles are rough. Some nights are better than others, and some nights are much, much worse…

After many trials and efforts there are a few things I have come to a conclusion on when it comes to bedtime for the Fox kids.

  1. Routine – Kids understand routine. If you do the same thing each night, the consistency assures them and gives them the comfort they desire. They can understand what is coming next and there is much less of a fight.
  2. Full Belly – I try to give my kids a snack and water before bedtime. This helps that oh-so-annoying “I am hungry/thirsty” excuse.
  3. Cozy PJ’s – The more comfortable my kids are while laying in bed, the better their sleep. If they have soft pajama’s on there is less twisting and squirming around to get in that perfect sleeping pose.
  4. Bathroom Trip – We have the kids try to use the toilet, wash their hands and brush their teeth right before bed.
  5. Stuffy and Story Time – My kids love stuffed animals. Like love them. They each choose a few stuffy’s (as we call them) to sleep with that night. This give them a sense of comfort and security. After we cuddle in we read 1 – 3 books depending on time, length of book and honestly, my mood!
  6. Prayers and Lights Out – After our story time is completed we pray to Jesus for our day we just had, all our friends and family and for the following day. This gives my kids the final nod of the day. The “the end” moment

Brian the Pekingese is a special yellow dog that has come into our hearts and helped aid in our bedtime habits.

Brian is a dog that helps get your child ready for bed some of the most important ways:

  • Pajama’s
  • Stuffed Animal
  • Bedtime Story

At Brian the Pekingese they know that children’s pajama’s should be worn by children, not made by them. Sadly, this is a reality of the world, but with Brian the Pekingese, you can rest assured that all their pajamas are made in the USA. Using no flame retardant chemicals and 100% organic cotton material, you can just feel the softness and love behind each pair of pajamas.

They offer both short sleeve/short sets and long sleeve/pant sets, so no matter the weather there is a perfect pair for your child. We love that they have boy, girl and gender neutral prints, so you can shop with man options.

The novel – you can purchase here – is a perfect easy to read bedtime (or daytime) story. “Sharing With Friends” showcases the topic of sharing using the main protagonist, Brian the Pekingese. When he sees a situation arise, he chooses to share and make a new friend. I love how straight forward and simple this book is. It has some of the best Children’s book illustrations I’ve seen which really helps bring it to life. It really makes the perfect gift for a young child. You can buy the book separate or as a package along with the stuffed animal of Brian the Pekingese.

Something Special – Recycle Your Brian the Pekingese Pj’s!

That’s right, when your child out grows their Brian the Pekingese pj’s, you have the option to mail them back (postage paid) and Brian the Pekingese will recycle the cotton.

FALLing in Love with Simplay3

Its a new season and kids are starting a new year of school, so why not check out a new company?

MamatheFox was excited to find Simplay3 as a company destined for the success in making those staple toys for our children’s childhood.

Who is Simplay3

Simplay3 is a newer company in the toy and home plastic industry. However, the brains behind this company are far from newbies. Tom Murdough, the founder of Little Tikes and Step2, created Simplay3 after deciding to come out of retirement. He assembled a leadership and design team of experienced and talented employees that continue to stretch and redesign innovative and high quality products. Simplay3 is excited to meet the needs and wants of consumers and offer products directly from the manufacturer.

They are certainly a company to keep an eye on, as they are continuing to design and sell new and iconic products.

We are also happy to say all of their products are produced in the USA.

What I love about Simplay3

Everyone has their parent pet peeves and have developed parental “tastes” on baby products and clothing.

Well mine is battery operated toys. I don’t like repeated sounds bouncing through my house that eventually my toddler is going to be repeating. As an educator, I didn’t like that batteries took away from the imagination and controlled how kids played.

So when I found Simplay3 children line I wanted to give the creators a big no batteries thank you hug!

They believe in unstructured play and kids telling toys how to play and not vise versa. Their children products are meant to inspire imaginative play as well as provide play patterns to help fine tune motor skills and develop growing muscles.

In addition, they create activity tables and stations that welcome social play while also providing space for kids to play peacefully together. Less elbow bumping and more giggling!

But the designing doesn’t stop there, Simplay3 home produces a variety of garden and home products. From hauling equipment, Step Stool and steps, to Mailboxs they support your home improvement project and solve big to little problems.

Simplay3 simple solutions for work and play are built to uphold value. Parents can appreciate toys that last for years, homeowners can trust durable multipurpose tools.

Super Coupe Pedal Trike

One of Simplay3’s hottest toys right now is the Simplay3 Super Coupe Pedal Trike. It amps up the fun of a simple coupe car by adding big wheel pedals. Tricycles are one of those foundational toys we all had as kids growing up and still see today.

Why?

Tricycles are great energy outlets and exercise for those crazy littles that never stop moving. Coordination and agility are improved while kids build confidence from accomplishing a task independently. Tricycles are staple toys that get your kids outside and active.

The Super Couple Pedal Trike has all the same great features of a tricycle with added sophisticated design. The roof gives a realistic car feel while the low seat and big wheel gives provides easy control.

Another beneficial feature is this trike can grow with your child. It offers 3 adjustable seat positions, making it perfect for ages as young 3 all the way to age 7.

My son is 2 and a half and has little experience with bikes and pedals. He runs on the shorter side but was still able to reach the pedals with the balls of his feet. It took him about 3 rides before dominating pedaling and turning into a wild man on the sidewalks. I am anxious to see what he will be capable of when his whole foot reaches.

The Super Couple Pedal Trike is pretty light weight, 16 pounds, for being a riding toy. I was able to throw it in the back of my compact SUV and bring it to a local park. It was light enough for my son and niece to take turns pushing each other around. I liked there was a place for the kids to rest their feet if pushing becomes the game…which it always will. I didn’t have to worry about shoes dragging or feet getting rolled over.

To assure quick assembly the front fork, pedals, and big wheel are already assembled for your convenience. My husband and son had it from box to trike in less than 30 minutes…and that is with a 2 year old “helping.”

An added bonus, shipping is already included in the price for most of America!

So there you have it Mama’s! If you are looking for innovative durable toys that encourage imagination and physical health, I encourage you to check out Simplay3. The Super Coupe Pedal Trike is a staple childhood toy that will grow with your child and build lasting memories.
