Jaeger-LeCoultre is a force to reckon with when it comes to traditional timekeeping and passion for innovation. The brand has achieved groundbreaking work in horology, including producing the world’s smallest mechanical movement, the first keyless watch, and the Atmos Clock.

Historically, the watchmaking process was done in different places by different craftsmen, and then assembled into one piece. To break away from the norm, JLC was the first watchmaker to bring all of its craftsmen under one roof to ensure that the quality of all their watch parts remain top-notch.

Watch connoisseurs consider the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso as the must-have watch to own from the brand, but there are other JLC watches worth checking out. Jaeger-LeCoultre is a prolific watchmaker and offers a wide range of timepieces with different features and horological complications that will appeal to every type of watch enthusiast.

If you’re shopping for your first-ever JLC watch, you can start by familiarizing yourself with these popular collections from the brand:

  •  Reverso – known for its Art Deco lines, rectangular shape, and reversible case
  • Master Control – JLC’s sophisticated line of dress watches
  • Polaris – JLC’s sporty line of watches with date, alarm, and chronograph functions
  • Rendez-Vous – known for its feminine style adorned with Guilloche and diamond bezel styling

Here are the best Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from each collection:

The Reverso Classic is a great entry-level into Reverso’s line of sublime watches. The Reverso got its name from its case which is made of two parts: an outer-case and an inner case that can be swiveled back and forth. There are fluted lines on the top and bottom of the inner case, reminiscent of the Art Deco movement. This watch is available in various colored dials such as bright red, chocolate brown, burgundy, and blue lacquer.

Master Control Calendar

This watch is the epitome of understated yet luxurious design. It comes in a 40mm stainless steel case and unlike its previous iterations, it comes with a stainless steel bracelet. The bracelet is interchangeable and can be replaced with a light brown Novonappa calfskin leather strap. The silver-gray brushed dial is protected by a sapphire crystal glass. This watch is powered by an 866 caliber movement, 344 component parts, and 70-hour power reserve.

Just like the rest of the watches from the Master Control Collection, this watch features a round case, curved lugs, and satin finish. It has a calendar, chronograph, moon phase, and also comes in two straps – a stainless-steel strap and a calfskin one. It features a silver-brushed dial and a unique double chronograph display. It’s powered by a Caliber 759 movement, with 358 parts and a power reserve of 65 hours.

The addition of a perpetual calendar display in a sports watch often results in a clunky design, but this is clearly not the case with the Polaris Perpetual Calendar. Available in either steel or pink gold 42mm case, the watch features a deep gradient-blue lacquer dial and a rotating inner bezel that measures elapsed time. The date, month, and day indicators are displayed at 9, 12 and 3 o’clock respectively. What makes this watch different from the other Polaris is its southern hemisphere moonphase, 351 parts, and a power reserve of 70 hours, all powered by a Caliber 868.

The Rendez-Vous is a classic round watch and is great for women looking for an alternative to the rectangular Reverso. It has a day/night indicator at six o’clock, where a semi-circular aperture is placed. The hands are done in blue steel, which contrasts nicely with the silver guilloché dial and mother-of-pearl finish. The texture of the dial is exquisite, and the overall design of the Rendez-Vous is eye-catching and balanced without being overly flashy. This elegant watch is powered by the JLC Caliber 967A, which is made from 203 components and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
