What is a paring knife?

Paring knives feature a blade ranging from 2 1/2 inches to 4 inches. They look like a miniature chef knife, but it’s use is very different. A paring knife is best used for cutting and pealing fruits and vegetables. With a paring knife you can slice a single garlic clove or cut delicate vents into dough.  The paring knife has the ability to do fine detailed work like removing the flesh from a peach or de-vaining a shrimp. It truly is an all-purpose knife.

I have fond memories of my grandmother and paring knives. She would always use them, I mean always. When I told my mother about writing this review she instantly thought of her mother. My grandmother grew up on a farm. She used every part of everything. She would use a paring knife to get small bits of meat off a bone, she would cut an apple so that all parts could be eaten, she really loved her paring knives. Below are a few examples of the many ways to use a paring knife.
