My kids love these quinoa squares. These puffed quinoa crackers have the same texture as cheese puffs; and tell me, what kid doesn’t love cheese puffs? I really like these puffs because they are so easy to take on the go. We put them in the pool bag and eat them during swim breaks.

The bags are re-sealable using a zipper closure. This makes moving them from bag to bag really easy. Coming in three different flavors, your kids will love these squares. These puffs are easily dissolvable so they’re great for young kids too. I recommend keeping an eye on the littles while they’re eating these. My son is 10 months old and he hides them in his mouth easily. Just be cautious (as with all food babies eat! ;)).

Organic Ancient Grains Cookies

I’m not a huge fan of these cookies. They are super crumbly and crummy. After eating them I have a film in my mouth that is hard to get rid of. But despite my not liking these, my two-year-old LOVES them. It makes me feel good about giving these to him because they’re pretty healthy, considering they’re cookies. I think I’ll have to go for something else to satiate my healthy cookie needs! There are high protein cookies by Lenny & Larry that I think will be great to try. Just for me though, the kids aren’t getting their hands on these ones.

Pink Elephant – Organic Fashions for Everyday

When you think children’s fashion what comes to mind?

For me is quality, modern styles and wearable.

 

 

So often I will find a beautiful dress or fun top for my daughter, but the material is scratchy or not cut to fit her body. Our kids are children, and should dress as such, not a teen. However, our kids have exposure to high end fashions. Shows like Barbie’s Dream house, Fancy Nancy and loads of other Disney programs show our children young girls and teen’s wearing hip/top end brands.  I want my daughter to look like a 5 year old, not a 15 year old. This month I had the opportunity to try out Buttons Cloth Diapers. My sister has used them for both her boys so I wanted to see why she was so loyal to this particular brand.

The Diapers

Buttons diapers takes a new and improve twist on past cloth diapering systems. The outer shell is waterproof and wipeable, meaning it can be used multiple times before washing. Rather than changing the whole diaper (like inserts and AIO), just the insert can easily snap out and be replaced with a fresh clean one.

 

It also makes it convenient to use the same diaper night and day. Snap the daytime insert in for play time then at bedtime add a nighttime insert underneath a daytime insert for a peaceful dry night.

Sizes

Button Diapers covers have the same great quality in three different sizes.

Newborn, One-Size, and Super.

I especially loved their sizes because one-size really doesn’t fit all!

NEWBORN

Both of my cloth diapering sisters had babies in the fall. My sister with newborn Button diapers started cloth diapering way before my sister with one-size. The cut of these pip squeak diapers fit perfectly around even tiny newborn chicken legs and while still preventing mega leaks.

It is a big deal because after changing and washing 6-12 diapers a day, no one wants to add wardrobe changes to the laundry. Also with the estimation of newborns using over 300 newborn diapers, cloth can be a mega money saver in the end.

ONE-SIZE

One-size diapers are a great option for frugal cloth diapering. Both of my kids were born weighing over 8 pounds, so I assume I would have been able to put them in One-Size diapers before a month old.

I do find a lot of mom’s prefer waiting a month or so before switching to cloth. It gives them time to recover and relax before taking on diaper laundry.

Since these diapers can fit up to 35lbs it is likely they will fit until potty training. My son being of of those kids! So if you have a pretty average baby, one-size Button diapers could be your one stop shop for cloth diapering.

SUPER

Now a mom with an above average size babe, I appreciate the Super size. My daughter has always been in or above the 85% range for height and weight. Before she was mobile she was especially rolly-polly.

All the more to love right?!

I remember around 6-9 months thinking she was going to outgrow her one-size cloth diapers! The snaps were on the second to last spot and her back side would creep out when she was sitting. Fortunately, when she started walking and crawling she leaned out and developed more of a toddler shape. I actually was able to snap her diapers tighter.

However, the hight issue stayed the same. I could never find a diaper that completely covered her bum, and more importantly kept messes from spilling out. I feared she would exceed the maximum weight of her one-size diapers before we hit potty training.

The super sized diapers became a great addition to our cloth collection. They provide maximum coverage and maximum protection!

As if my daughter knew I was reviewing her diaper, she almost immediately “tested it out” if you know what I mean. I was happy to say her Buttons diaper held strong through crawling, rolling, walking, and even a dance party.

Since we are new to Buttons diapers we tried out their Hemp/Cotton Daytime Inserts.

These inserts are made with an incredible 4 layer absorbent system. Moisture-wicking fleece sandwiches layers of hemp and organic cotton.

The inserts are very durable and feel well made. I especially loved the seem and edging on each insert. It is rare to find both, and honestly I think it helps all the more to lock moisture in and prevent leakage with movement.

The snaps hold the inserts in place and are easy to remove and replace.

Overall I loved joining the Buttons Diapers family!

The holidays always come with a lot of eating; large meals, tons of snacks, and of course sweets. We’ve got some great snacks that are a very healthy option for you to replace some of the standard snacks you serve. We slammed on some Country Archer Jerky and here are our main thoughts – the beef was outstanding! The best had to be the Teriyaki & Sriracha. You read that right, real American made Jerky flavored with our favorite ‘kick-it-up-a-notch’ hot sauce Sriracha. While we did like the Turkey Jerky we had a harder time tasting the added flavors to the Hickory, this may have just been due to it being a leaner meat. We loved the texture and flavor of the turkey, don’t get us wrong, but we longed for just a little bit more kick in the mouth while eating the Hickory – on the flip side, the Turkey Honey Dijon was OUTSTANDING! The flavor was spot on and we ate the whole bag pretty fast, because it was just that great. For sure try out this flavor!

All the Country Archer meats were tender! No hard to chew, sore jaws when eating their jerky. It was the perfect balance of chew you want in a jerky but not so much that you feel like its gum in your mouth. They obtain this by using all natural 100% Grass-Fed beef and passing on the nitrates.

When you are hoping from store to store buying all your holiday gifts and essentials, be sure to have some Country Archer jerky on have to keep your energy levels up. They also are perfect for stocking stuffers.

Body Safe, Baby Safe

I’m always on the hunt for organic body products that I can use on myself, but more importantly on my babies. I believe that it is very important to know what we put onto our skin. We are delicate humans and we were not created to be using all the nasty, chemical filled products that sit on the store shelf.

 


That is why I am loving Yorba Organics.

One of the first differences I noticed when I started using the Yorba products was the color of their creams and lotions. Everything is colored an orange-tan color; much different than the products I’m so used to using. At first I was a little concerned – “Are these expired?”, I thought. But then I realized why they were ALL colored this way – their products are real! They are using pure ingredients so of course their products aren’t going to be stark white like most other lotions and creams. This really put me at ease. I knew from the beginning that their products were legit.

Stretch Mark Cream

I just had baby number two on September 29 and let me tell you, stretch mark cream was a necessity while I was pregnant. With my first child I used a brand of cream that was very oily. It literally stained everything it touched; I had to make sure I wore old clothes I didn’t care much about when putting it on. Quite the annoyance.

This cream though, has no oily feel at all. It’s comparable to lotion or body butter – pretty thick. It rubs on super well and soaks into the skin perfectly. I don’t even need to wash my hands after using it! I totally recommend this Stretch Mark Cream to any soon to be mamas.

Baby Foam Bath

My son loves this baby foam bath. We put it in his bath and he absolutely loves the bubbles. He even started to eat the bubbles at one point! I did ask him stop eating the soap but was not at all worried. I trust the ingredients!

The foam creates a lot of suds which makes bath time even more fun for baby. Simply pump the bottle a few times under the running water and watch the suds form!

The smell of the foam is very attractive. Many different oils are used in the foam which creates the yummy scent. Marula is the key ingredient and is perfect for all skin types. It is very mild and gentle – just what we want for our babies!

Baby Wash and Shampoo

This stuff rocks. When we took my son out of the bath the first thing I noticed was his hair. It was drying perfectly; seriously his hair was so soft and fluffy! I love how the shampoo and body wash are combined into one product. Why buy them separately when you can get them together!

Diaper Cream

I was very interested in how the diaper cream was going to work. My son gets a rash where the diaper rubs his inner thigh and it is always so hard to get rid of. We’ve tried multiple diaper creams, oils, and powders and nothing seems to clear it up. After using the Yorba diaper cream for about a week and a half, his rash has cleared up! I’m seriously so impressed!! The Mafura butter, a key ingredient, is easily absorbed by the skin creating a fast acting cream. 

We cloth diaper in our house and finding a cream that is safe to use with cloth has proved to be quite the struggle. This Yorba diaper cream is zinc – free so it is 100% cloth diaper safe. Love it!!

Body Lotion

My husband used the body lotion before I got a chance to and let me tell ya, he loves it. His first comment about it was the color, which I briefly explained to him and he gladly accepted. As he was rubbing the lotion on his hands he mentioned to me that he got way too much. The amount he used was about the size of a nickel – a pretty normal about of lotion. But this lotion is powerful stuff! He was rubbing it onto his forearms because he had too much of it. The lotion is super absorbent and very hydrating. Hubby only had to use it twice before seeing a noticeable difference in his chapped hands!

 

Yorba products are seriously perfect for any family – kids or no kids. If you are looking to switch your hygiene products to a more natural and organic option, I totally recommend the Yorba line. Warm and Fuzzy about FuzziBunz

How is your cloth diapering going?

When we moved back to America we switched to cloth diapers since we finally had a washer machine connected to the hot water. I’ve enjoyed testing MamatheFox’s stash of cloth diapers to figure out which brands I like best, not to mention which ones my husband can correctly put on.

Recently while reading blogs and searching Pinterest for cloth diaper information I stumbled upon FuzziBunz diapers. I was immediately hooked by their prices and the frequency of sales. I loved their unique vibrant prints and realized these were different from most cloth diapers.

 

Why FuzziBunz is Different?

  • Easily replaceable elastics

FuzziBunz has a longer lifespan because you can replace the elastic. Diapers are equipped with Fantastic Elastic which are easily replaceable using a button-hole system. Replacement elastic is extremely affordable. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised! I mean replacing the elastic is pretty much giving your diaper a second life, so I expected it to be kind of pricey. Each replacement kit comes with 3 pieces of hole elastic and cost $1.50.

  • One size adjustable diaper

I’ve tried a lot of different brands of one size adjustable diapers. Some include snaps on the front which make for quick, but sometimes confusing, adjustments. I’ve also tried diapers equipped with a bra like elastic system in the legs. Those were so tight I literally had to use pliers to adjust my diapers. FuzziBunz elastic attaches to the adjustment buttons in each leg and on the waistband. A custom fit is made easy and can quickly be readjusted.   • 3 Point Leak Protection

Recently FuzziBunz refined their diapers creating a 3 point leak protection system. Their seams are are reinforced with new technology to prevent wetness leaking through. The first time my daughter wore this diaper she had a mega blow out. My father-in-law wrestled with a fussy baby for over 30 minutes with no resolve. I didn’t even know she had pooped until I went to change her diaper before a feeding. The leg holes are equipped with thick seams that keep moisture in but are still comfortable and moveable.

Inserts are pre-prepped and pre-shrunk in order to prevent abnormalities after the first washes. I loved how dense and high quality the organic hemp/cotton blend felt. It worked great alone during the day and paired well with a booster at night. I like the blend option as the cotton quickly absorbs moisture while the hemp retains moisture under pressure.

An additional treatment was added to the outer cover fabric to help make it more water resistant. To me, the outer cover resembles a soft cotton swimsuit. It definitely has a stronger water resistant feel and has protection against any wicking. An added bonus is the array of prints and solids. Their 2017 line is pretty top notch with a variety of different styles.

  • Polar Fleece Lining

You know the phrase “soft as a baby’s bottom?”

Well FuzziBunz’s polar fleece lining might be softer. The white lining was super comfortable on baby, especially around the legs and waist where it is tighter. I like to make my diapers a bit tighter mostly because my little one is on the squishier side. People are precious. What a beautiful and loving company motto. Yorba Organics is the organic skincare line you have been looking for. While many companies may be organic, they fall short in other sections, like green practices or not considering cruelty-free ingredients. Yorba Organics made sure to structure their entire company and development around creating products for adults and children without making any compromises.

Some of my favorite things about Yorba Organics is that they harvest their ingredients in the wild! They are sustainable naturally and don’t require fertilizers or chemicals to regrow once harvested. Better for the earth and better for you. They search the globe high and low, in remote forests and jungles to find the right ingredients for their products. They will not settle for just any old ingredient. They do this to locate high concentrations of beneficial ingredients, and it has paid off.

This Mama’s Experience

I was able to try out their shampoo, conditioner, face wash, clay wash, moisturizer and body lotion. Here are my thoughts and tips based on my experience.

These are products are really, honest organic. They have a slight tan tint to most of them. At first I thought it had a low amount of foundation in the moisturizer because of the coloring. After talking to a company rep I was told that they do not use any additives to alter the natural colors. The color you see is the true color of the natural ingredients. Pretty cool, huh?! After using it for a while now I can say it will not effect the coloring of your face. It soaks in just like a true moisturizer should. The moisturizer goes way farther than I expected. Typically with organic products I feel like I have to use more to get the results I desire. With moisturizers in the past that are organic I take a nickel size to cover my face & decolletage. With Yorba Organics I was shocked my first time using it. I had squirted out way too much. It was rich, creamy and covered my face and neck with such a small quantity. This is a product that is really high in value based on it’s low price of $16.95.

The shampoo and conditioner is made with Marula Oil, “Marula Oil is renowned for its cleansing and refreshing properties. It also provides protection against free radicals and helps to repair the skin. Marula Oil has a pH very close to our skin pH so it is mild and gentle enough to be used on even the most sensitive of skins” – Yorba’s Website

I loved how the shampoo gave a slight lather, soapy feel that is very hard to achieve in an organic product without SLS (sulfates). The conditioner had no lather or soapy feel, so I used more than I probably need. I like to really feel my hair coated with conditioner as if I am giving it a mask treatment with every use. Their conditioner does not achieve this, but I know that the thick feeling is not needed for it to truly moisturize my hair. The ingredients stand for themselves and you don’t need to use a higher volume to achieve the results you desire. I know this now by how my hair looks and feels after using their shampoo and conditioner set for a while now.

The Exfoliating Clay Wash is such a fun product. This body wash is a creamy scrub with a lovely natural clay color. It goes on smoothly and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. This clay wash features Kalahari Melon Oil. “Kalahari Melon Oil has regenerative properties and helps to restructure skin cell walls. With high levels of essential fatty acids, it also leaves the skin supple and hydrated after use. Along with a high fatty acid content, Kalahari Melon is also rich in oils, protein, carbohydrates, minerals and nutrients that all act to reduce skin stress, hydrate and pH balance skin” – Yorba’s Wesbite

Face cleansers can be tricky for me. I use eye makeup and often forget to use eye make remover before washing my face. Past organic face washes that I have tried never come close to taking off my eye makeup. With Yorba Organics I didn’t even consider it to take off my eye makeup, but it did! I mean some days there is some left, but as a whole I am shocked at how well it works. One of the key ingredients in Yorba’s face cleanser is Kigelia. “Kigelia is a clinically proven antibacterial and is known to aid in the natural treatment of very dry skin conditions and Eczema. It is packed with nutrients that aid in the repair of damaged or aging skin. Kigelia is also a highly effective anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredient” – Yorba’s Website Being that I am now in my mid 30’s, taking care of my facial skin has a whole new meaning. I mean honestly I blew off caring about my skin until really recently. Knowing that I need to make this skin last and take care of it. I am only getting older and more wrinkles from here on out! LOL! Knowing this takes care of my aging skin really gives me a peace of mind. My friend couldn’t report the same levels of satisfaction so she decided to look into more permanent solutions from professionals at websites similar to thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au. These products don’t work for everyone even if they are fantastic!

Yorba’s entire line is such high quality and it smells so natural and peaceful. You will instantly fall in love with these products and will come back to try out more products, I can assure you, you will be happy.

Children need quality clothing. While kids grown like weeds, they too need comfort and this really counts when it comes to a good night of sleep. My children are not the best sleepers…okay they stink at sleeping. I have learned after years of fighting with them at bedtime is that if they are comfortable, really truley comfortable, they are able to fall asleep much faster. Being in pajamas that are soft and don’t ‘rub they wrong way’ is way more meaningful than you may realize.

We have tried more brands and styles than you can shake a stick at. While we have found some that we love, we didn’t know such comfort until we used Finn & Emma. As  a parent who cloth diapers, I can say that these pajama’s are super for fluff butts! So many times the pants on the pajamas of my son, who wears cloth diapers, give him the old fashion ‘plumbers crack’ – this is where the pants fall down and show the butt crack region. While I love to see my little fluff butts diapers, we don’t need clothing that won’t fit around his butt and hips properly. The ways the pants are cut and sewn together gives them a fit that stretches yet holds in all the perfect places. This is also one of the reasons why these pajamas make bedtime that much easier. Who needs pants that keep falling and moving around while you are just about to find the ‘right’ position to fall asleep in?
